Residence

Synopsis
What seems like a straightforward rumor about treasure inside a mysterious mansion turns out to be far more complicated — the mansion transforms every single person who walks through its doors into a woman. That's the setup for Residence, a 3-episode OVA from 2017 that leans hard into its supernatural gimmick. A man hears the rumors, decides the treasure is worth the risk, and steps inside. What follows is part haunted-house mystery, part gender-transformation story, with the erotic tone you'd expect from the hentai genre woven throughout. The mansion isn't just a backdrop — it's the central mystery. Other transformed inhabitants are already inside, and piecing together how and why this place exists gives the early episodes a genuine layer of intrigue beneath the more explicit content. The supernatural premise actually carries some weight here, rather than just being window dressing. If you've watched Ingoku Danchi and appreciated how it uses its unusual setting to build atmosphere, Residence scratches a similar itch. Fans of Housing Complex C who enjoy horror-adjacent, contained-location storytelling with a darker undercurrent might also find it interesting, though Residence is considerably more explicit. It's a short commitment at three episodes, and the transformation premise is handled with more narrative curiosity than you might expect going in. If you're open to the genre and want something with an actual hook beyond the surface content, it's worth a look.
