The episode started out slow while focusing on character interactions and honestly, I really enjoyed it as it is the primary charm of the show. Character dialogues are so entertaining that I can literally watch their back and forth the whole episode. It also features a bit of flashback, showing their characters in middle school and you can really see the development of their character compared to how they are now.
This episode quietly builds tension while digging into themes the series has carried since the very beginning. The mix of old memories, lingering regrets, and strange new developments creates a constant feeling that something is off. Not action packed, but the suspense is incredibly effective.
I'd say not much happened in this one, with it mostly being side interactions and character exploration. Mai is as nice as ever to let Sakuta explore his mysteries. But with the earlier setup, it was clear there was going to be something and there was - it's getting serious now (the usual).
