Everyone talks about the Mai finale and it deserves everything people say about it. But I cried harder at Kaede's arc, and I think it's the part most people don't talk about enough. What destroys you isn't the big scene it's one small sentence about pandas. Something she said she wanted to do someday, so minor that you almost forgot it. And then that sentence becomes the most precise, smallest possible way to say that someone real is gone, and no one around Sakuta even knows to grieve her because to everyone else his sister came back.Sakuta breaking down not with a speech, not in a moment designed to be moving, just breaking down because what he lost isn't something anyone can see or validate. The person he built a relationship with over a year is simply not there anymore, and the one who replaced her doesn't know him. That is a specific kind of grief this show treats with more honesty than most anime would know how to. The Mai arc that follows puts Sakuta's love to an actual test instead of just declaring it. Both arcs together make this the most complete emotional journey in modern romance anime that I've seen. Don't skip to the end.

What a cliffhanger! It's the second to last episode and I honestly am anxious and excited at the same time to see how it all ends (S1). I hope Kaede will be ok...she needs to be protected at all times!

The lengths that Sakuta would go through for Kaede. No wonder he's barely showing emotions. Bro's been going through it early on in his life.
