Episode Context

Coming directly after the Shampoo arc reached a significant turning point in episode 17, this recap installment serves as a breather, consolidating everything from the Jusenkyo curse reveal through the rivalry and romance tangles that have defined the series so far. Sitting at episode 18 of 161, it's positioned as an early-series checkpoint, reinforcing character dynamics and thematic stakes before the show launches into its next wave of challengers and complications. Think of it as the series planting its flag on what Ranma's core conflict really is before the long road ahead.
