Ranma ½ (2024) Season 3

I lost it when Akane dropped the act and slapped him. The whole sparkling-eyes bit had me fully convinced she was under the spell and then she flips it on him. My favorite gag of the season so far

Kuno swinging in yelling his own name like a herald of chaos is exactly the kind of nonsense this show does well. Sent flying again within a minute. Perfect use of him

Akane spitting that pill out the whole time and just letting Ranma sweat was so good. She got him completely. Deserved after all the smugness

the whole blindfold scramble got exhausting after a while. too many people throwing water and grabbing each other. wanted more of Ryoga and less of the chaos pileup

That cliffside bit where Ranma kicks Akane into the water to keep her from seeing anyone else is the kind of unhinged logic I watch this show for. Nobody else would solve a problem like that

The scene where Akane touches his face all gentle and Ranma is blushing hoping it worked and then she slaps him and says as if Id fall for you was so good. My favorite beat of the episode by far

Genuinely surprised how much I still hate Happosai even with the nicer animation. The groping gag got old fast and the bracelet plot mostly existed to set that up. Ryoga showing up lost was the only thing that pulled me back in

Ranma calling Cologne Colon-chan and proposing marriage on the spot sent me. The way he just latches onto her with zero shame is exactly the kind of dumb gag this show does well

Akane spitting the pill out and letting Ranma think it worked just to slap him is the meanest and funniest thing shes done all season. I was sitting there feeling bad for him too

Cologne putting Happosai in his place in the stall was the part that landed for me. Two old masters going at it and she just dismantles his whole story about being a noble thief. Needed that

Ranma running away being called the Saotome Secret Technique will never not be funny to me. Joseph Joestar would be proud of that coward

I went in just wanting the fight and walked out weirdly into ranma telling akane he didn't fight for her. the mutual respect nod he and ryoga share at the end is what sold the whole episode for me

ryoga calling ranma's punches weak right after eating that flurry almost made me feel bad for ranma. almost. dude trained under a swinging boulder for days so of course he shrugged it off

cologne is such a menace. tying akane to a tree and declaring the winner gets a date with her like she's a prize. akane screaming she has no right to decide that was the funniest part of the whole episode

the way the score swells during the montage cutting between ranma and ryoga training all night does a lot of heavy lifting. that last distant explosion before cologne confirms he mastered it got me

genma demonstrating the breaking point concept by comparing it to how everything has a weak spot was a neat way to set up ranma needing speed over strength. the payoff when he finally reads ryoga's pressure points mid fight lands well

not gonna lie the akane cooking disaster subplot is starting to wear thin for me. every season it's the same joke. give her an actual fight scene instead of a ruined pot

MAPPA really did give the boys the ikemen treatment this week. Ryoga dragging boulders off his chest and Ranma dodging wasps looked sharper than anything in the first two seasons

the whole wasp training bit with Genma cracked me up. dad of the year just dumping a hive on his kid and calling it a lesson

I keep thinking about Akane watching Ryoga get flattened by that boulder and still bolting off to warn Ranma. She knows the Breaking Point could actually wreck him so she picks a side. That worried look she gave the moon at the end stayed with me
