EPISODE REVIEWS

Following on the previous episode's deep dive into the core story, this one effectively unravels the root foundation of the narrative, providing essential insight into the progression of the overall plot. On top of that, the rising tension in the latter half of the episode is genuinely riveting despite its briskness.

In this episode, we learn the story of Takako, the previous Pretear. We're told about the danger of having the Pretear's power reside in someone so easily succumbing to despair, and the sacrifices that had to be made to imprison her. Himeno receives all this information, and the enormous responsibility of not ending up like Fenrir weighs heavily on her. Again, one thing I appreciate about this anime is that no matter how much enthusiasm and courage the protagonist possesses, insecurities and fears don't simply vanish overnight. And it's very interesting to see Himeno trying to hide her suffering even though everyone else is aware of it.
