Prétear: The New Legend of Snow White

Un final que no da ni un solo respiro, en poco tiempo desarrolla la desesperación de los personajes, una transformación bellísima, redención y un desenlace hermoso. Ver cómo todo el camino de Himeno hasta aquí cobra sentido y que su desarrollo emocional se transmitiera físicamente como Prétear, fue un grandioso cierre para una protagonista. El único motivo por el cual no considero perfecto este episodio, es que quizás el desenlace es algo "idílico" o muy típico de los cuentos de fantasía; es decir, no hubo muchas consecuencias para algo que casi destruye el mundo y una villana que causó tantos problemas. Pero en general, fue un muy buen cierre para un anime que no es simplemente uno más del montón del género maho shojo, sino un anime excepcional que te provoca muchas emociones; y aunque tenga un romance cliché, se desarrolla muy bien. Es un anime corto que volvería a ver, a pesar de la animación limitada (es del 2001)

Though I honestly felt it lacked a bit more intimate chemistry in the characters' romantic development, it still manages to deliver a satisfyingly heartwarming conclusion. It is a well wrapped up finale episode.

As a penultimate episode, this one delivers the peak of emotional stakes of the series. It completely overwhelms with heartfelt warmth, beautifully highlighting the strength of family bonds. On top of that, the ending twist still left me stunned despite taking a somewhat cliched approach. Furthermore, the dark, tragic emotions surrounding Takako and Mawata bring a deeply relatable aspect to the story's real world dynamics.

Actually, this episode provides a deeper emotional depth that gives the narrative much profound substance for the storyline along with a gradually thrilling high stakes tension that is grippingly hooking. Beyond that, there were highlighted moments that render a heart fluttering feel, which absolutely showcased the characters' chemistry.

Un episodio lleno de emociones con distintos frentes intentando enfrentar el peligro que representan los villanos. El desarrollo y redención que ha tenido la familia es notable, pasando de ser insoportables en los primeros episodios a comportarse como una verdadera familia que sufre y enfrenta la situación de Mawata. El enfrentamiento también estuvo espectacular; debo destacar sobre todo la banda sonora y la animación para este episodio. El final se acerca y las emociones están por el aire.

This episode effectively sets up the exciting tension of the series zenith, leaning into a much richer narrative after that unexpected turn of events from the previous episode. In addition, the complementary foreboding atmosphere builds gradual tension as the story progresses, adding a gripping layer of depth to every scene. And also, it never fails to deliver a funny scene for the episode.

Un episodio que prepara el cierre de este anime y nos muestran las consecuencias del árbol de fenrir, y toda la devastación que está causando. Es triste ver a Mawata así y que Sasame haya dejado de ser alguien noble para pasar a ser sumamente frío; espero que le den su merecido. Me gusta cómo este anime ha logrado que el drama familiar y las subtramas de desamor tengan consecuencias en el mundo.

Un episodio emocionalmente devastador para los personajes, además de muy frustrante para el espectador. Me duele mucho por Mawate, ver cómo usan su tristeza y desesperación rompe el corazón; pero al mismo tiempo, desarrolla a la villana como alguien cruel y dispuesta a usar las mismas heridas de inocentes que ella sufrió en el pasado. La situación es dramática y el mundo parece que se va a ir al carajo. Solo espero que no saquen una solución demasiado fácil.

Yappari!!! I'm certainly right about the one I'm suspecting with. Actually, it was quite easy to predict the flow of this narrative and even each character since it renders typical tropes. However, I still like the flow of the story despite its cliched nature because the humor and the romantic tone really make you feel the fun and the excitement of the story.

As expected, the setup for this episode takes a while to build up the story's momentum, even though it was precisely brief, it still manages to deliver a subtle romantic tone that genuinely made my heart flutter in significant moments. Plus, the ending cliffhanger somewhat validated my suspicions about a certain character!!!

Following on the previous episode's deep dive into the core story, this one effectively unravels the root foundation of the narrative, providing essential insight into the progression of the overall plot. On top of that, the rising tension in the latter half of the episode is genuinely riveting despite its briskness.

As the plot progresses, the narrative escalates into a pivotal point of the story, deepening its core substance. And as usual, this episode maintains a measured, deliberate pace, even as magical skirmishes remain abruptly brief. Actually, it is ultimately a great episode, but the sudden execution of the animation leaves you feeling left hanging once the action ends.

Well, this episode provides a much more engaging experience, as it renders a deeper foundation for the core substance of where this storyline is headed. Aside from the increasingly better progression, the dynamic synergy takes a very compelling approach that essentially uplifts the subtle romantic tone of this series, making your heart flutter while watching.

Un episodio que vuelve a la estructura de episodios pasados: primera mitad de comedia y en un momento cambia abruptamente a algo oscuro y más emocional. La comedia estuvo entretenida, pero lo que más destaca es sin duda el giro que ocurre con Sasame. Me gusta que hayan esas tensiones para darle más dramatismo y profundidad a las intenciones de los personajes secundarios.

I've noticed that this series structures its narrative in a way where its lighthearted setup relies on humor to stay genuinely engaging, making every scene entertaining to watch rather than boring. However, the downside is that the execution of their magical fight scenes feels far too rushed and brief. The momentum that should have made those fights remarkable gets eaten up by lengthy transformation setups, overshadowing the episode's richly humorous foundation. To be honest, while the comedic beats are entertaining despite taking a typical approach, the execution of these major exciting moments still feels noticeably truncated.

I must say, the tonal shift in this anime is excellent. From silly, over-the-top scenes, we're suddenly plunged into a tremendous tragedy with more realistic conflicts (let's ignore the giant tree destroying the city), painful losses, and emotional acts of trust. This ending is moving; it brought tears to my eyes, and the resolution, however naive, truly feels heartwarming. The sacrifices hit hard, and Himeno's ability to grow stronger when all seemed lost doesn't feel like a sudden, unsupported power boost. The ending is beautiful and warm, and it feels gratifying that after all the suffering, the characters finally find peace.

Un episodio aunque al principio por momentos pueda sentirse un poco lento, es bastante profundo y emocional, tocando temas sensibles sobre la soledad y el no encajar. No esperaba que Himeno fuera a desarrollar una linda relación con su hermanastra, aunque durada poco por el malentendido. Una de las cosas que más me gusta de este anime es cómo la transformación no depende únicamente de habilidades físicas, sino de qué tan saludable tengas la mente. Al final el anime nos deja con el enfrenamiento para el siguiente episodio y con la tensión de saber cómo harán para salir bien.

Fenrir has caused immense damage and seems to hold all the cards, but she hasn't counted on Himeno's family truly loving each other despite their negligence and mistakes. Himeno sets out to confront Fenrir, and even without her powers, she's able to face her and show her that resentment and hatred aren't liberating when they end up hurting others. Certainly, for an anime that started with such ridiculous humor, the tense and emotional moments really pack a punch. And all the previous damage, however silly it may have seemed, is confronted so that those wounded hearts can truly be healed.

This episode is interesting. Although in the first few episodes we saw Himeno's family neglect her, when she disappears for three days, they all move heaven and earth to find her. However, there's someone else at home suffering, and they don't notice. The Disaster Princess, in her cruelty, uses the only person Mawato trusts to cause her more despair and thus gain more power. What I like most about this episode is that many of the mistakes of the past are now exacting a huge toll. This anime doesn't forget past wrongs and works on them to develop the problems and make them even bigger.

Sasame ended up switching sides because of a love he couldn't confess at the time. Given the critical situation, Himeno decides to leave home to avoid causing problems for others. Amidst ridiculous and humorous scenes, it's heartbreaking to see Himeno saying goodbye to her loved ones. By betraying her friends, Sasame becomes the enemy, but it's clear that rather than becoming evil, he's simply someone who loves a toxic person.
