Episode Context

Coming off the emotional 'Cubone' episode that exposed Team Rocket's ruthlessness, this third installment escalates Red's conflict with the organization to its peak, putting him face-to-face with their leader Giovanni. It's the narrative fulcrum of the four-episode series, everything before this was building Red's resolve, and everything after rides on what happens here. This directly sets the stage for the finale, 'Charizard,' where Red's ultimate challenges await.
