👀 SPOILER-FREE SUMMARY

Pokémon: The Origin takes a sharp tonal pivot here, trading the upbeat adventure of Red's early journey for something far more somber and atmospheric. Lavender Town sets the stage, and the episode leans into themes of loss, grief, and the darker corners of the Pokémon world that the mainline anime rarely touched. Red's empathy becomes the driving force as he encounters the orphaned Cubone and the mysteries surrounding Pokémon Tower. Team Rocket's presence adds genuine menace, and the pacing is deliberately slower, prioritizing emotional weight and character moments over rapid-fire battles. Mr. Fuji and Blue both factor in meaningfully. Expect an episode that earns its tension through atmosphere rather than spectacle — this is the emotional core of the four-episode series, and it hits harder than you'd anticipate from a Pokémon special.
