Episode Context

Landing roughly a third of the way through Pokémon Journeys' 136-episode run, Episode 43 marks the beginning of a significant Galar-focused story arc adapting the Darkest Day storyline from the Sword and Shield games. Earlier episodes established Ash and Goh's research fellowship and world-hopping dynamic, and this episode escalates the stakes considerably beyond routine catches and battles. It sets the stage for the continuation of this legendary Pokémon conflict in the episodes immediately following.
