QUICK TAKES

The flamboyant dance from Quaxly totally stole the show, especially since he was basically acting as a wingman for a pair of Oinkologne in the middle of town

Prince using that sweet scent and only hitting Sprigatito finally settled the debate on the starter genders after waiting so many episodes

It made me feel so proud to see Liko use her bond with Sprigatito to help Twirly get enough confidence to face Prince in that tag battle

Liko and Roy winning that battle without Friede hovering over them was actually refreshing and it shows how much they are learning on their own

I know people are complaining about the slow pace lately, but the parallel between Yuno and Renta and their Oinkologne was actually handled pretty well for a filler. It was nice to finally get the starter genders confirmed too. I just hope we get back to the Explorers soon because the mystery is why I really watch this show.

It was hilarious how Liko could tell Yuno actually liked Renta even though she kept acting like she hated him while they were training their pigs

The starters showing off their personalities during the double battle was great, especially since Roy and Liko didn't need Friede to bail them out this time.

I really didn't expect much from a pig themed filler episode but the romance between the two Oinkologne was actually really sweet. Seeing Liko connect with Twirly by using her own experiences to give her advice felt like a great step for her. Plus finally getting official confirmation that Sprigatito is female and the boys are male was a nice bonus.

Learning that Dot's Quaxly is officially a boy during all those dance scenes made a lot of sense given how much he loves to show off

The way the trainers were just as awkward as their pigs made the whole romance thing way less annoying than usual filler episodes

The bickering between Yuno and Renta while their Oinkologne were falling for each other was such a throwback to the classic Nidoran romance and it felt very charming

The various pig Pokemon running around Pigton Town were such a great detail and they made the whole setting feel really alive during the mission

Using the Oinkologne scent to confirm the starter genders was such a clever idea and it felt so natural for the story, and seeing Fuecoco and Quaxly not care while Sprigatito was dazed made me laugh so much. I thought the Pigton tournament was a nice touch and the double battle showed how far Liko and Roy have come today

Quaxly performing that dramatic dance to help Twirly gain some confidence was hilarious and he really showed off his personality even without Dot around

Prince and Twirly acting out their own little drama while their trainers stood there being oblivious was hilarious and a great way to use Oinkologne

Watching Twirly and Prince finally work together during that tag battle was the perfect way to end their little love story

I am so glad they finally confirmed Sprigatito is a girl and Fuecoco is a boy because it makes their little friendship feel even more special now

Quaxly doing that little dance to help Twirly feel better was the best part and he has so much personality compared to the others

I finally have confirmation that Sprigatito is a girl and my headcanon was actually right for once

This felt like such a solid filler and you really get to see the main trio just being kids and helping out a local trainer

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming off episode 35's spotlight on Friede and Captain Pikachu's bond, this episode pivots to a self-contained side story featuring Liko and Roy in a mentor-like capacity. As a confirmed filler episode, it doesn't advance the series' central quest lines but reinforces the protagonists' growing confidence and teamwork, qualities that will carry into future story-driven episodes.
