Bronzor using Ally Swap to mess with the kids was actually kind of a clever strategy even if the whole episode felt like it was going nowhere in the long run
maki_maverick_137's avatar
maki_maverick_137
Watching the kids struggle against a Bronzor while Friede just stands there was frustrating because Captain Pikachu always ends up doing the heavy lifting in the end anyway and it feels repetitive

Liko and Roy getting scammed by a fake antique shop owner is exactly why they need to stop relying on Friede to bail them out of every fight they lose or mess up

Tepen and his Lampent having that weird history with Diana was way more interesting than the actual hunt for the stolen ball and the backstory felt wasted on a filler week today

The way Diana told Arcanine to burn Tepen to a crisp was the funniest part of this whole episode and she really should have just gone with the kids from the start

I cannot believe Roy let that guy just walk off with the ancient ball and I am so tired of Captain Pikachu having to jump in and fix everything for them every single time
erica_brown's avatar

I was so annoyed that Roy fell for such an obvious scam and then we had to watch Captain Pikachu take over the fight like he always does lately instead of Roy learning something
arven_356's avatar

I felt so bad for Roy when that old guy just swiped the ball right in front of them and everyone just stood there like a bunch of idiots and watched it happen

Tepen realizing he messed up and apologizing to his pokemon was actually kind of sweet and it was a decent redemption for a character who started out being a total creep

Chasing an old man through the woods makes you feel like you are watching a classic filler episode from the original series

I really enjoyed those ghost type pokemon popping up and it was fun watching them run around the city after that sketchy old man

ritsuko_akagi_183
I really liked seeing Diana get aggressive with Tepen, because it shows she isnt just a sweet grandma type and has a real edge to her and it was weirdly satisfying seeing him get scared when she threatened him with Arcanine but I just wish Liko and Roy would stop relying on Friede and Cap to bail them out of every mess

The reveal about the Poke Ball craftsman gives the group a real reason to move on and finally gets the plot back on track

It felt like such a filler episode and Liko and Roy were so gullible for falling for that antique shop scam and it would be cool to see them actually win a fight for once

Hatenna is basically a living lie detector and it is frustrating that Liko hasnt figured out how to listen to her feelings

The scavenger hunt vibes were fun and seeing Diana show up to press Tepen for the truth with her Bronzor was a really cool moment for her character

I felt so bad for Hatenna because she was trying her hardest to warn everyone and they just ignored her for food

Why did Diana just let the kids go into town alone if she knew Tepen was shady and it feels like she could have just helped them from the start

Captain Pikachu jumping in to handle everything again makes it feel like Liko and Roy will never actually win a fight on their own

Tepen using those Foongus and Lampent to trap them was actually pretty clever even if he is a washed up thief who deserved that lecture from Diana

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming off the character-driven warmth of 'As Long as I'm with My Friends,' episode 28 pivots toward the show's central mystery by pushing the ancient Poké Ball storyline forward through a new contact, Tepen. It serves as connective tissue between the team's recent bonding arc and the upcoming 'Orla and the Poké Ball Smith,' which promises deeper revelations about these artifacts. This is a setup-heavy but engaging chapter that expands the world and introduces key information the Rising Volt Tacklers will need going forward.
