Murdock's tears when he talked about his old bakery completely surprised me; I didn't realize how much of his core identity was wrapped up in that place. When he finally hugged Mitchell, I breathed a sigh of relief, feeling like he'd finally found a piece of his old self again.

Okay, so I was completely floored when that Pokémon battle suddenly turned into a baking contest, like, who saw that coming? But honestly, it made total sense for Murdock and Mitchell, and I kinda loved how it showed off their unique personalities beyond just fighting.

I could not stop smiling when the battle turned into a cake decorating contest and the pokemon helped sift the sugar

It was cool to see Liko step up for her friend, but the highlight has to be Kabu just chilling at the end of the episode

Murdock and Mitchell's bake-off just totally surprised me; I didn't expect to feel so happy watching them realize how much they actually missed each other's company outside of traditional battles. It makes me wonder if this is the start of them truly rekindling their old friendship, which would be amazing.

Mitchell apologizing for being jealous about the ruby swirl form was such a grounded moment and it made the whole pastry chef backstory feel real

Roy was so focused on finding Rayquaza but then he just gets handed the cotton candy for Dot and meets a literal gym leader by accident

The way Murdock and Alcremie used decorate to power up Sprigatito was a clever move and that defensive acid armor worked perfectly

Murdock finally getting some focus was exactly what this show needed, and his history with Mitchell felt so grounded. I wasn't expecting an evolution to be the thing that tore them apart, but it makes sense when they had such a specific vision for their bakery and their tearful hug after that intense cooking competition felt like the perfect way to end their feud

When Alcremie was just trying to get everyone to bake together again, I found myself getting choked up seeing Murdock cry. It really makes me think about how much those little moments mean to him, and how he cherishes his Pokémon.

Liko standing up for Murdock was great, and it really shows how much she cares about the crew now

Giving Murdock some time to shine was a great choice since he is usually just in the kitchen and seeing his past with Mitchell was actually pretty heavy stuff, and that Alcremie evolution really messed up their whole dream so I think seeing them finally fix things while making those desserts together was the best part of the trip

You could really feel the tension when Mitchell first saw Murdock and it makes sense why he was so bitter about the Alcremie evolution

Okay, so when that pokemon battle suddenly became a baking contest, I was cracking up! Who knew Charcadet and Fuecoco could whip up such amazing treats, it totally caught me off guard how good everything looked.

Galar looks so good in the anime and I think Motostoke is even more detailed than it was in the games

It is wild that an adult friendship ended because of a pokemon evolution but Murdock and Mitchell making up felt very earned

The sheer weight of Murdock's regret, from that flashback where he just walked away from the bakery, was so palpable; I could practically feel him carrying that burden for ages. It was such a relief to me when Liko finally helped him unpack all of that.

Dot asking for cotton candy as a video prop is so relatable and it was the perfect excuse to get the group into that battle cafe to settle the old drama

Roy asking everyone in Motostoke about a giant black dragon was hilarious because they all looked at him like he was crazy and then Kabu just shows up out of nowhere

Kabu showing up right at the end was a great way to start the Galar arc and his design looks perfect in this style

EPISODE CONTEXT

Arriving after the Rising Volt Tacklers' journey into the Galar region, this episode functions as a deliberate character development pause in Motostoke before the narrative picks up action again. It bridges the team's arrival in Galar with the upcoming encounter with Gym Leader Kabu in Episode 20, 'Kabu's Battle Training!' The slower pace here gives the ensemble room to breathe while deepening Murdock's backstory ahead of more battle-oriented episodes.
