Seeing Liko totally fan out over Dot now that she knows the secret is hilarious and it is great that they are actually becoming real friends outside of the Nidothing persona

Captain Pikachu is such a beast and him losing his hat made the battle feel so much more serious even though he was just teaching the kids a lesson

It is cool how this show takes time for the small stuff, and Roy figuring out how to make his team work together really feels like the older seasons in a good way.

Wattrel and Fuecoco bickering reminded me of my own pets and it was satisfying to see them use the wind to their advantage and land a hit on Cap

Liko thinking about catching another pokemon feels like such a big step for her and watching her watch Roy and get inspired was a nice touch for her growth

I loved seeing Dot sneak out and actually help Roy with his strategy because it shows she is finally comfortable around the group and her dynamic with Liko is just the cutest thing

Roy trying to get Fuecoco and Wattrel to stop fighting was so funny and they finally pulled off that move against Cap and it is cool seeing the actual work that goes into training them

I think it was great how Dot stepped up as Nidothing to give Roy advice, because it showed she actually cares about the team and the way Wattrel and Fuecoco were bickering at first felt so real for a new team and seeing Cap's hat actually fall off after that Spark attack was the coolest thing they have done yet

When Wattrel finally pulled off that gust attack using the falling branch, I honestly cheered out loud for Roy! It felt like such a huge, earned victory for both of them, and I just know Roy must've been absolutely bursting with pride watching his partner nail that move.

I really appreciated seeing Dot step out of her shell more to help the boys with their training and her knowledge is actually carrying the team right now. Watching Roy struggle with Wattrel and Fuecoco fighting was a bit stressful but that tower formation on his head was the highlight and it made the whole training arc worth it for me

Fuecoco was just so eager to be friends, I almost felt bad for Roy having to manage its boundless energy against Wattrel’s stone-cold rejection! It really got me thinking, does Wattrel have a history of not getting along with others, or is Fuecoco just too much?

Roy's really got a knack for bringing out the best in his Pokémon, and I was so impressed with how he got Wattrel and Fuecoco to finally click. That Spark and Ember combo they pulled off was genuinely awesome, making me feel like their bond is seriously growing into something special!

Watching Dot come out of her room and helping Roy plan his training felt like a huge step for her character and the way she talked about another pokemon was great

Roy still seems a bit headstrong with his training but at least the strategy worked and they managed to knock the hat off Captain Pikachu

It feels like the three main kids are finally acting like a real team and helping each other train which is exactly what I wanted from this show

Roy's tower strategy was such a weird move and seeing Wattrel and Fuecoco stack on his head was funny and it actually worked well enough to knock off the Captain's hat

The training montage with the spark and ember combo looked cool and Cap actually taking Roy seriously at the end was a great finish

Liko thinking about catching another pokemon was pretty cool, because she really needs a bigger team to keep up and the advice from Orla felt right
bewmbeatz's avatar

Roy using the wind to power up Wattrel was such a smart move and it showed he actually listens to what his pokemon need during a fight

That Tinkatink catch for Dot really made me happy because she spent so much time hiding but now she is finally part of the main group

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming off Episode 16's spotlight on Dot and Quaxly's developing partnership, Episode 17 rotates the ensemble focus to Roy, continuing Horizons' pattern of giving each Rising Volt Tacklers member meaningful solo development. This training-focused installment builds the teamwork foundation that feeds directly into Episode 18, 'Flying Pikachu, Rising Higher and Higher!', where the stakes of preparation pay off.
