I cannot believe Roy actually beat a champion like Nemona today and his Mega Lucario is just way too strong now

sailor_saturn_398
I still cannot believe Zinnia just showed up like that and seeing her talk about the strong spheres was what got me excited because of the potential Z-A tie in
luna_375's avatar

Nemona is a champion level trainer and she really should have won that match against Roy despite him using a mega evolution and it just feels like the power scaling is all over the place

Watching a mega lucario go head to head with a tera pawmot was actually cool and it is nice to see the show still focusing on the paldea mechanics while bringing back the older gimmicks

Honestly, seeing the Mega Lucario reveal was the highlight for me because I've been waiting for that gimmick clash since the timeskip started. I know people are mad that Roy won against a champion, but that final hit against her Terastallized Pawmot looked incredible and it really shows how much he leveled up while he was away in Kalos

waterblight_ganon_299
The clash between Mega Evolution and Terastallization was exactly what the show needed, even if the logic behind Roy winning so easily is a bit shaky for some fans

Jacq explaining the connection between Rakulium and the Strong Spheres at the academy actually made the overarching plot feel much more important than before

sailor_tin_nyanko_392
Seeing Mega Evolution and Terastallization go at it was cool but Nemona really should have used a better team than Raboomi if she wanted to win
serena's avatar

The clash between Mega Evolution and Terastallization was a great concept but the animation for Lucario and Pawmot just felt really stiff and they kept using the same moves over and over
kyurem's avatar

Watching Pawmot take that massive hit from Lucario was intense and it really lived up to the hype of seeing two different generational mechanics in one match

Nemona got done so dirty in this fight and it makes no sense for Roy to be at her level already without even showing us his training
jinbe_juggernaut_91's avatar
jinbe_juggernaut_91
I feel like the writers buffed Roy a bit too much during the timeskip and Nemona deserved a much better showing than what we got today

Penny being totally unhinged while she was hanging out with her Flareon and Sylveon was the best part of the whole academy visit and Jacq was fun too

I think Roy's year of training in Kalos really showed when he used that Pollen Puff trick to throw Nemona off and his growth as a leader is actually starting to make sense
chika_fujiwara_162's avatar

Roy getting to pilot the airship because Murdock finally trusts him was a nice little detail that showed how much the kids are growing up on this journey even if the fight was messy

The clash between Mega Lucario and Terastallized Pawmot was cool to see, but the visuals for the legendary pokemon Liko used were definitely underwhelming. They really needed more detail for a moment that big

taiju_tenacity_158
I was really excited to see Mega Evolution go up against Terastallization, but the way the match ended left a bad taste in my mouth. Nemona is a champion, and losing to Roy like that feels like it came out of nowhere after he did most of his training off screen. At least seeing Zinnia and Penny made the academy trip worth it.

It is weird how Roy is suddenly way stronger than Liko and beating Nemona like that felt like he had massive plot armor even if it was just a friendly double battle with weird rules
nekogirl22's avatar
nekogirl22
Roy winning that battle against Nemona feels like the writers are making him way too invincible and he is overshadowing everyone else now and it makes the fights less interesting when he never seems to struggle
nukekubi_nemesis_63's avatar
nukekubi_nemesis_63
Nemona definitely got robbed in this fight, even if Roy having Mega Lucario is cool to see. It feels like she was holding back way too much for someone with her title.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming off the Rising Volt Tacklers' return to Naranja Academy and discussions around the Strong Spheres, this episode pivots from narrative groundwork into a defining battle that tests everything the characters have learned. The clash between Terastallization and Mega Evolution serves as both a spectacle and a thematic milestone, crystallizing the series' ongoing exploration of growth through battle. This confrontation sets the stage for escalating stakes and new strategic developments heading deeper into the season.
