This episode of Pokémon combines humor and action as Team Rocket’s Wobbuffet mecha causes chaos before Jasmine steps in with her powerful Steelix. The opening adds classic comedy, but the real highlight is Ash’s long-awaited battle at the Olivine Gym.

Episode Context

This episode concludes a three-part Lugia storyline that began with Team Rocket's capture of both Lugia and its offspring in the preceding episode, 'A Parent Trapped!' It's a high-point arc resolution roughly 80% through the original series' total run. The following episode, 'Throwing in the Noctowl,' pivots back to Ash's broader journey, so this serves as a natural climax before the show returns to its standard rhythm.
