Pokemon: Discover Paldea

Picture a bunch of trainers sitting down for a picnic and trying to build the most ridiculous sandwich you've ever seen. That's basically the premise of Pokémon: Discover Paldea, a 3-episode ONA set in the Scarlet and Violet region, and honestly it's kind of perfect for what it is. You've got a crew of Paldean trainers hanging out with their partners — Pikachu, Paldean Wooper, Milotic, and Hydrapple — just vibing through everyday life in Paldea. No world-ending threats, no tournament arcs, just the cozy stuff like making sandwiches with Herba Mystica and taking group photos afterward. It's the Pokémon equivalent of a warm afternoon where nothing goes wrong (well, mostly — that sandwich doesn't exactly cooperate). The whole thing leans into slice-of-life territory, which is a nice change of pace if you're used to the main series formula. Each episode is short enough that you can knock out the entire run in one sitting without committing your whole evening. If you enjoyed Pokémon: Paldean Winds or the quieter character moments in Pokémon: Twilight Wings, this hits a similar note — small-scale stories that make the world feel lived-in rather than just a backdrop for battles.
