This episode focused more on Karen and her circumstances. Compared to Miina, she is not overly familiar with her interactions with Maiku. Due to Maiku finding out about her family situation, Karen became more open with Maiku. She went from someone who felt like she must not belong in that house to a person who has been officially accepted to stay—by Maiku and herself.

Yeah this show is definitely a slow burn. It's such a shame the writers had to make them siblings, this could've been such a sweet first romance anime otherwise, specially with how innocent but daring Miina is with her very obvious crush on Maiko, what a waste. I hope he ends up dating the stranger and not the twin when it's all over, but you never know.
