Paradise Kiss

Synopsis
On the surface, Yukari Hayasaka looks like the picture of a model student, studies hard, follows the path her mom laid out, doesn't ask too many questions. Then a punk guy with piercings and a spiked choker grabs her off the street because he thinks she'd make a good fashion model. She ends up in the atelier of Paradise Kiss, a group of art school students designing clothes for their senior showcase, led by George Koizumi, who is exactly as magnetic and emotionally complicated as that name sounds. What starts as Yukari reluctantly agreeing to model for them turns into a slow unraveling of everything she thought she wanted out of life. This is a 12-episode TV series from Madhouse, adapted from Ai Yazawa's josei manga, and it leans hard into the fashion world without ever feeling like costume porn. The animation style is deliberately stylish, almost editorial, and the soundtrack mixes Franz Ferdinand with softer, moodier tracks that hit differently during the quieter scenes. The romance between Yukari and George isn't idealized; it's messy, uneven, and sometimes uncomfortable in ways that feel honest. If you liked Nana's approach to adult relationships and growing up, this is from the same mangaka and carries that same emotional weight. Fans of Honey and Clover or Princess Jellyfish will recognize the vibe: young creatives figuring out who they are while everything feels urgent and uncertain. It's short, it's beautiful, and it doesn't waste your time.

Looking for a quick 12 episode show to watch? Paradise Kiss is just for you. Sure, it\'s a little more for the "Shojo" audience, but it has plenty of stuff to keep any guy entertained. So, what\'d I think about it? Story Meet Caroline, the girl who doesn\'t really know what she\'s doing with her life. She happens upon a group of college students that need her to be their fashion model. Interesting premise, and doesn\'t sound too farfetched from what might happen in real life. Good ending that actually makes some sense too. Art A little funny looking at times, but the art is definitely nice. Sexy looking females. Thumbs up from me. Sound Awesome opening (freakin\' awesome) and great ending theme (U.S. band). Can\'t see how you wouldn\'t like the music throughout the anime. Character Caroline x George are definitely my favorite characters. Great personalities from each of them and the story really makes you understand why they are the way they are. Enjoyment Enjoyable, quick, and happy. 12 episodes of some laughter and some teary scenes. Basically, you can\'t go wrong with this anime. If you\'re into romance (not some angst crap though), and you like non-stupid anime, check this out.
Damn, Yukari was really rude to Kaori in the beginning of this ep! Maybe she's more like George than I thought! Arashi is such a loser and his band sucks! This show was just full of unlikable men. While I did complain a lot, I actually really love this anime. The characters, story and ending are all very realistic and grounded.
To be brutally honest, I did NOT like the final dress, sorry. George shows some maturity in this episode. It does seem like he cares about his friends, he just doesn't really show it that well.
Loved Mr Noriji's fourth wall breaking ad in the middle of this episode, so funny. Isabella and George have a very sweet relationship. George clearly cares a lot for Isabella and has always respected her identity. Dare I say I prefer seeing the two of them together over George and Yukari., even if it might only be platonic.
Nine episodes in and George is finally treating Yukari with a little bit of care and concern. Whenever Yukari seems to be coming to her senses and questioning her relationship with George she immediately backtracks and goes back to him. Unfortunate, but also a very realistic depiction of toxic relationships.
Llegarán a tiempo?
George is pissing me the hell off again! If he really cares about Yukari and her future, how about he talks to her like a normal human being instead of insulting her every chance he gets. I'm glad Yukari spoke to her mom, her terms ended up being very reasonable too.
George is a bit more tolerable in this episode, we'll see how long that lasts. It's good to see Yukari being proactive and trying to get her career going. I wish she'd slow down her relationship with George though.
Yukari's impulsive behavior is explained in this episode when she reveals the complicated relationship she has with her mother. I also feel bad for Miwako, everyone treats her like a little kid and she obviously struggles with living in her sister's shadow. Despite all of this she's always so positive and supportive.
Yukari is making some terrible, impulsive decisions. Surprisingly, Arashi is the only one who can see how ridiculous she's being. Hiroyuki and Yukari's mom are the only two characters that seem worried about her, even though I don't agree with how Yukari's mom is handling the situation. Side note: I really loved the outfit that Yukari wore to the interview!
