Wow, the OP and ED are BANGERS! I'm also happy that my ship is failing, but I'm sad that Akana knows that Aqua has an ulterior motive for choosing her over the others. Still, at least the ship has left the dock and that's what matters, right?

Ruby lowkey flips a switch here and it’s both impressive and kinda scary. Aqua noticing it turns everything into mind games. Industry side plot adds that grounded realism the show does so well.

This episode centers on Ruby pushing herself to succeed so she can track down her mother’s killer. She’s going all in, but it makes me wonder why she doesn’t talk it through with Aqua. Still, it slowly reveals what’s really going on behind the entertainment world.

Seeing Ruby manipulate those around her to get what she wants is chilling. She is finally using her star power like Ai did but with a much darker edge. The way she handles the producer shows she is not a little kid anymore.

Yea this hits hard, especially when it’s relatable to those working with those bosses. Loving the direction Ruby’s going. Appreciate how Akane realizes that the real winner was actually Arima.

I personally felt this episode is more of what Oshi No Ko is meant to be compared to episode 1. The foreshadowing without a clear direction of the story is oone of Oshi no Ko's best strength in story writing.

OMG this episode was such a rush! Ruby’s energy and drive in her new role were super hype, and I loved how the story shined a spotlight on her determination and how she’s leveling up. The way it also blended character moments with real industry grind made it intense 😭

Akane mimicking Ai so perfectly was genuinely chilling to me – it felt less like acting and more like she was truly embodying her, which made the subsequent online storm after that cooking mishap even more upsetting. I kept thinking about how quickly the idol world can chew people up and spit them out for anything, and how terrifying that must be for someone just trying to get by.

Ruby having those dark eyes now is so unsettling and you can tell she is going down a path that might be even scarier than what Aqua is doing for his revenge

My heart actually stopped when Aqua grabbed Akane on that bridge because everything felt so hopeless and dark with all those death threats flooding her phone and he really showed up just in time

I still have goosebumps from Akane doing that Ai Hoshino impression and her eyes literally looked like they were glowing and it was actually terrifying to see Aqua look that haunted by it

The way those social media comments just kept piling up on the screen while Akane was crying in her room made my stomach turn and it shows how fast people turn on you for nothing

My stomach dropped the moment I saw Kana in that black dress during the opening; it felt less like a costume and more like a premonition of a funeral, honestly making me incredibly anxious about her fate in this season.

Ruby acting so cold and calculating is such a crazy shift from before and she might actually be scarier than Aqua at this point

The director calling Ai a monster for faking emotions explains so much about how Aqua and Ruby turned out and it is depressing as hell

The way Akane just turned into Ai was actually terrifying and Aqua looking like he saw a ghost made it so much worse

Akane's breakdown over those online comments honestly just gutted me, I can't believe how quickly things escalated for her. Aqua jumping in felt like a huge relief, but my mind is still reeling from how he says he's just using her, yet his actions, especially promising to expose the production, totally contradict that – it makes me wonder if he's truly trying to protect her the way he couldn't protect Ai.

I still cant get over how fast the internet turned on Akane for a tiny mistake and that bridge scene had my stomach in knots

Ruby is starting to act just like Aqua and it is scary how she manipulates people now but seeing her take the lead this season feels right after being sidelined

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming off 'Down Bad,' which laid the emotional and narrative groundwork for Season 3's direction, 'Calculating' is the second of eleven episodes and functions as a strategic pivot point — characters are now actively making moves rather than reacting. This episode bridges the premiere's setup with Episode 3's 'Correctness,' building toward the ethical dilemmas and personal reckonings that will define the season's central conflicts.
