Damn, I can't believe that my ship was sailing, but it seems like Aqua's heart is for someone else. That's unfair! Their new B-komachi song is surprisingly good, too! This might be their best one yet.

Kana is NOT okay and the emotional tension is already suffocating. Aqua moving differently, Ruby starting to feel off in a subtle way. MEM-cho carrying the emotional IQ of the whole cast again.

The time skip really hits different seeing how much has changed for B-Komachi. Mem-cho taking on a big sister role to handle the group's growing fame while Aqua and Akane navigate being an official couple adds a lot of grounded drama.

Since last season, we’ve seen Ruby’s darker side begin to emerge, and this episode smoothly builds on that while showing each character’s growth in the entertainment world. Poor Kana still hasn’t moved on, and that conversation between Aqua and Mem-cho was really surprising!

A great intro for the start of the season. They reminded us on the important bits that we might’ve forgotten. Overall really liking how they’re portraying Ruby into a psycho and Kana as a damsel in distress. Mem is quietly becoming my fave. Aqua’s ptsd was also fun to watch.

Late to the party, but honestly I LOVE this episode so much. It really hits all the "recap" moments without doing much flashbacks and really establish where each of the character stands since the last season. Also as a MEMCHO Stan, this episode was GOLDEN nya

Aqua's character development becomes darker because after thinking she was free from her mother's shackles, it turns out her mother's killer is still roaming around out there, which makes Aqua's nature and character become dark again, and Ruby tries to become a famous figure in o

Did anyone else just get a gut punch watching Kana in Shibuya, all alone, as Aqua and Akane were literally larger than life on that huge display? It honestly felt like a visual representation of her spirit dimming, and it makes me worry about how much more she can take before that spark is totally gone.

I am still thinking about that scene where Aqua explained why he is staying away from Kana, because it makes so much sense even if it is painful to watch. He is literally terrified of her ending up like Ai, and seeing the flashback of the blood on the floor again really grounded his fear in a way that made me understand his coldness.

Finding out Ruby took the initiative for that reporter role was the highlight for me because she is clearly a different person now

You see Ruby finally tracking down Ichigo at that fishing spot and it feels like the story is finally moving toward something heavy and dangerous. Her eyes in that music video were so different

Kana's tears on those stairs right after the flashy music video felt so raw to me; I just wish someone would truly see how much she's hurting and help her escape that brutal cycle of being used up by the industry.

I cannot believe how scary Aqua got when he pinned Mem-cho to that sofa and his eyes were just pure darkness while talking about Ai. He really is traumatized by that floor and the blood

Some manga readers are annoyed about the plushie change instead of the original character but the scene where Kana is crying alone in her room still feels heavy

My heart broke when Kana asked to be dropped off at the station because she couldn't stand being in the van with everyone anymore while feeling so isolated

I hate seeing Kana cry on those stairs because she thinks Aqua is just being a good boyfriend to Akane and has no idea he is actually terrified for her life

Poor Kana, seeing that billboard of Aqua and Akane together in Shibuya just ripped me up, especially knowing she's probably just thinking he's being loyal. But I could tell from his raw breakdown about Ai with MEM-cho that his avoidance is really just him drowning in his past, and it makes me wonder if he can ever escape it.

EPISODE CONTEXT

As the Season 3 premiere and episode 1 of 11, 'Down Bad' functions as a recalibration point — reintroducing the cast after a significant time skip and establishing the emotional fault lines that will drive the season forward. It picks up the threads left by Season 2's climax, particularly the shifting dynamics within B-Komachi and Aqua's broader mission, reframing them through a more personal, vulnerable lens. The introspective groundwork laid here clearly sets up escalating interpersonal and professional conflicts for the episodes ahead.
