Episode two is a tragedy about memory and disillusionment. The visual contrast between the sakura pink girl Samanosuke remembers and the faded, broken woman they find is devastating.Heizo's comment to the heartbroken Samanosuke is brutally honest but i love the part.

This one felt more slow-paced and heavy compared to the first episode. Not much action, it was more about backstory and regret, so it kinda dragged a bit, but I was still into it. I liked how it brought up parts from the past and made the character feel more realistic. Give it a try if you don’t mind slower episodes.

Episode Context

Onihei shifts gears in its second outing, pulling back the curtain on Chief Officer Heizo Hasegawa's past rather than keeping him as an enigmatic enforcer. Expect a more reflective, character-driven episode that weaves personal history into the fabric of an active investigation. The tone balances period-drama tension with genuine emotional weight, exploring themes of loyalty, betrayal, and the moral gray zones that define Heizo's worldview. Old connections resurface, forcing the protagonist to reckon with who he was before the badge. The pacing is deliberate, this isn't wall-to-wall swordplay, but when action arrives, it carries stakes rooted in character rather than spectacle. A strong early indicator of the show's storytelling ambitions, blending Edo-period atmosphere with layered personal drama that rewards patient viewers.
