When Oden threw those guys, my jaw just dropped; he wasn't just tossing them, he put every last bit of his strength into physically launching Wano's entire future away from that firing squad. I felt that desperation in my chest, knowing he was literally flinging their hope to safety even as his own time ran out.

Oden smiling while he fell into the oil was such a powerful ending for a man who actually carried the future of his country on his back for an entire hour

Oden threw the retainers to safety with his last bit of strength and it was the most heroic thing in the show because they had to run without looking back

I still cannot believe Oden survived the whole hour in that oil and then Kaido just pulls a gun on him after all that struggle

Kaido killing the old lady to keep his honor and then putting Oden down himself felt like a weird kind of respect and it really shows how much Kaido hated that the fight was rigged

Oden just standing in that boiling oil while his skin turned red was hard to watch but that final line gave everyone chills and the way the citizens finished his sentence was beautiful. He went out like a total legend and it was so powerful seeing him hold that plank up even while the oil was literally cooking him alive

The arrows carrying the truth across Wano while Oden was dying in the pot felt like such a huge moment and you could really feel the tide turning against Orochi and his lies

Oden lifting that massive wooden board while his skin was literally turning red from the heat was unreal. He really was a beast to stand there for sixty minutes and never let go

I can't believe Oden held that plank for an entire hour and still had the strength to throw his friends to safety. Seeing him smile at the very end after being shot really broke me

EPISODE CONTEXT

This episode serves as the dramatic crescendo of the Wano Country flashback arc, following the escalating conflict between Oden and the forces of Orochi and Kaido that has been building across previous episodes. It directly continues from episode 973's dire setup and delivers the defining moment of Oden's legacy. The events here are foundational to the present-day Wano rebellion, setting the emotional and narrative stage for the Scabbards' mission and the Straw Hats' alliance moving forward.
