Sanji beats up a customer for wasting food and immediately you understand who he is. The Baratie is a great setting. Fullbody getting humiliated while trying to impress someone is peak comedy.

Great episode! Sanji immediately comes off as a powerful character, while the jokes fly fast but don't feel awkward at all. The sheer stupidity of Luffy adds to the entertainment value too. Great episode!

Johnny and Yosaku were both amusing, and their introduction aligned well with Zoro’s backstory from the previous episode, where he was highlighted. The way the storytelling connects everyone was delivered really well.

This escalated into something hilarious, but since it’s Luffy, I’m not surprised at all. It felt more like setting up this arc’s story while also giving us a spectacular introduction to a new character.

Luffy was so hilarious here, I couldn’t stop laughing 😭 Sanji’s introduction was so flashy that it instantly got me intrigued. That was such a grand intro, honestly.

Introduces a key figure while expanding the world’s cultural depth. The tone mixes charm with underlying tension.

decent setup episode that introduces johnny and yosaku while getting the crew heading to baratie, nothing too exciting but the scurvy scene is kinda funny and there's some subtle foreshadowing with nami that pays off later

One of the characters made me laugh because when he speaks, his saliva rains on the other person, which is so silly. Even when Luffy and Usopp shove the limes to the ill character is so hilarious. It is also satisfying how Sanji embarrassed the Navy.

my whole reaction to this was kindness should be shown even to strangers and that helping others without expecting anything in return is a sign of true strength.

I was pretty worried for Yosaku but those limes really did a miracle on him and Sanji is the star here after he schooled that idiot Fullbody for lying about the soup

Sanji kicking that marine lieutenant across the room for wasting soup made me an instant fan and he looks so tough with those powerful kicks

I was totally sold on Sanji the second he started kicking that Marine guy through the room and he is so much cooler than I expected from the title

That Marine officer Fullbody was so annoying and deserved every bit of that beating Sanji gave him, plus the way the Baratie chefs are all former pirates makes the whole place feel way more dangerous

Luffy trying to bounce a cannonball and ending up in debt for a year is such a mess and Sanji is going to have his hands full with this crew for sure

Nami saved the day with that scurvy diagnosis and it was weird to see Johnny and Yosaku again but Sanji finally showed up and he seems pretty intense about his food

I think I already found my favorite character because Sanji is so smooth with how he handled that Lieutenant Fullbody and his wine lies, but then he just absolutely demolished the guy with those kicks. The Baratie looks incredible too and seeing Luffy get stuck doing chores because he accidentally blasted the roof is the most Luffy thing that could happen

Sanji is so much more aggressive than he looked in the opening credits and he really does not play around when people disrespect his kitchen or the food he serves

Watching Sanji totally humiliate that arrogant Marine was awesome and those leg moves are way more impressive than using a sword or just punching stuff

The Baratie is such a cool idea for a setting and Luffy is really going to be a chore boy for a whole year because he cannot aim a cannonball to save his life

The episode took a while to get to the point but seeing Luffy have to work under Zeff because he broke the restaurant is a funny twist and Sanji is definitely a wild card

EPISODE CONTEXT

Episode 20 launches the Baratie Arc, shifting focus from the crew's previous standalone encounter with Gaimon to a more sustained storyline centered on recruiting a cook. This is a pivotal setup episode—Sanji's introduction here kicks off one of the East Blue saga's most important arcs, establishing characters, conflicts, and emotional stakes that will define the next stretch of episodes.
