Absolutely heart-pounding! The battles are intense!

You usually think of Zoro being the tough one there but Kuma watching him take all that pain and realizing Luffy has people who would die for him was the real highlight here

I cried watching Vegapunk pull that memory bubble out and Kuma just sat there with that gentle smile knowing his soul was about to be gone for good just for his daughter

The scene where Bonney puts on that red lipstick to look like an adult just so she could find her dad hit me so hard because she was just a scared kid underneath

Saturn is actually pure evil for forcing that self destruct switch on a man who only wanted to see his kid grow up and the way the lights went out at the end was brutal

The emotional stuff was great, but some of those reused clips from old episodes felt like they were dragging the story out a bit too much even if the new perspective helped a little

Kuma just stood there, holding those wanted posters for Luffy and Bonney, and I couldn't help but feel this profound sadness mixed with a strange pride emanating from him, knowing he was watching his daughter become a "criminal" just like himself. It makes all his actions at Sabaody so much heavier now, realizing he was protecting them even as his memories were literally being erased. I wonder if a tiny part of him still registered that he was dancing for Bonney, a final, heartbreaking act of fatherly love.

Kuma doing that Nika dance for Bonney while he was suffering so much made the whole story feel heavy because of everything he did to save her

That Zoro moment through the eyes of a guy who was secretly rooting for them this whole time makes Thriller Bark feel so much more heavy and bittersweet

I am actually a wreck after seeing Kuma smile for Bonney one last time and he deserved so much better than being a tool for the world government
dendra's avatar

Finding out Kuma spent his last moments of free will making sure the Straw Hats ship was safe just shows he was the ultimate hero and he deserved way better than this fate

I never thought I would care about a giant cyborg this much but watching him hug Bonney for the last time while knowing he was about to disappear broke my soul

tsuyu_tsunami_125
The part where Kuma watched Bonney from the trees in Sabaody and started crying really got to me and seeing him so happy for her while he was losing himself was just too much

that nika dance kuma did for bonney while his own world was ending is enough to make anyone lose it and he is easily the best father in the story

The first half felt a bit rushed with the montages but that final memory extraction scene was animated so well and the red colors during the pain bubble moment looked incredible
levi_lance's avatar

That flashback montage with the music made me lose it and seeing his whole life flash by just to end up as a machine is the saddest thing this show has ever done
silver's avatar

The way they showed the Sabaody punch again but from Kuma's perspective changed everything and he wasn't just a mindless weapon but a guy trying to save his friends and his daughter
katy_362's avatar
katy_362
you finally get why kuma sent them all away at sabaody and it was never about hurting them because he just wanted to give them a chance to survive

Kuma secretly watching Bonney eat in Sabaody while he knew his time was running out is the most heart wrenching thing in this whole show

EPISODE CONTEXT

Episode 1136 serves as the emotional capstone to the extended Kuma flashback sequence that has been building across recent episodes, finally completing the full picture of his tragic past and the motivations behind his most significant decisions. This conclusion bridges directly back to the present-day Egghead Island narrative, recontextualizing the current conflict with devastating new weight. With the backstory now fully laid out, the stage is set for the arc's next phase — escalating confrontations on Egghead that will carry the emotional resonance of everything revealed here.
