One Piece 1136 absolutely destroyed me. This episode is a perfect example of how much emotion can elevate a story. Storytelling, world-building, characters, all of that matters, but when a story actually makes you feel something this strongly, that is when it becomes truly great. I had seen people online calling it the “One Piece 1136 effect” and seeing streamers completely break down while watching it, but I didn't think it would hit me this hard. I wasn't even crying during most of the episode, I was just completely devastated by what Kuma went through. Then that “Happy 10th Birthday, Bonney” line dropped and I completely lost it. I was literally screaming, my throat started hurting, and I kept wiping my eyes but the tears just wouldn't stop. What did my man Kuma ever do to deserve this fate? Man, Oda really knows exactly where to hit. This episode didn't just make me sad, it genuinely broke me. Absolute cinema.
