As episode one of fifty, this is pure foundation-building, nothing precedes it, and everything follows from it. The relationships, setting, and emotional undercurrents established here will drive the entire series, making it essential viewing rather than skippable setup. What feels like lighthearted comedy in this first episode is quietly laying the groundwork for deeper explorations of ambition, identity, and the messy evolution of feelings between Mikako and Tsutomu.
