Coming directly off the premiere's introductions, this episode shifts from establishing Negi's fish-out-of-water situation to actively building the magical framework that will define the season's central relationships. Probationary Contracts are introduced here as a key mechanic, setting up the alliance structures and power dynamics that ripple through the episodes ahead. Think of this as the show laying its rulebook on the table, what gets introduced now will be tested and complicated as the class of 31 students gradually enters the fold.
