Episode Context

Episode 159 launches the Gosunkugi Capture Mission arc, a filler storyline deep in the back half of Naruto's original 220-episode run. It follows a standalone survival challenge episode and directly sets up the next installment, 'Hunt or Be Hunted?! Showdown at the O.K. Temple!,' which continues the pursuit and digs deeper into the bounty hunter's backstory. This stretch of the series sits firmly in the extended filler block between major canon events, so viewers can skip without losing narrative ground.
