Raiga using his own comrade as a sensory organ is such a dark concept and it makes him way more intimidating than most filler villains

Ranmaru eating that spicy curry to save himself was surprisingly emotional, even if the premise of a magical life-saving soup is totally ridiculous for a ninja show

The animation during the fight on the cliff was a bit shaky and it would have been better if Tenten actually got to land a finishing blow for once

Raiga is such a creep for keeping that kid in a bag but his lightning jutsu is honestly pretty terrifying to watch

I know this is filler, but seeing another one of the seven swordsmen is actually pretty interesting since we haven't seen much of them since Zabuza died. Ranmaru and Raiga have such a weird and sad bond that hits me hard, especially when Naruto promised to be his legs. That curry of life is still the weirdest thing in this show though

That moment when Naruto asks about Kisame makes the world feel huge and it connects things back to the main story nicely

I felt so bad for Ranmaru when he was crying about Raiga and the way they lean on each other reminds me of Haku and Zabuza

Tenten really deserves a better fight than this because she always feels like she is just standing there while Naruto does everything

Seeing another member of the seven ninja swordsmen show up is cool even if this is just filler because those lightning swords look awesome

I still cant believe Ranmaru actually got up and ate that curry of life and it actually worked somehow

that curry of life looks terrifying and i can practically feel how much naruto and the others are struggling to eat it

raiga crying over people while he buries them is such a bizarre personality trait and it makes him stand out from the other villains

i was actually relieved when ranmaru survived because his bond with raiga is one of the more wholesome things in these filler episodes

the way ranmaru uses his eyes to mess with everyone is actually a pretty interesting power and it gave neji a hard time for once

seeing another one of the seven swordsmen show up was cool even if the writing for this filler arc is a bit messy

i am still humming that new opening song because namikaze satellite is such a catchy track and it fits the mood of this arc perfectly

Raiga is a decent villain for a filler character, and those lightning blades look great in action, but the plot feels a bit repetitive. I think the connection between him and Ranmaru is fine, but it definitely doesn't hit as hard as Zabuza and Haku did, and that curry joke is honestly starting to get a little old now

You can tell they tried to make Ranmaru like a new Haku, and the way he finally ate that curry was actually kind of sweet

it was so weird hearing naruto ask about zabuza when he clearly should have been talking about kisame instead

raiga using those twin lightning swords was actually pretty cool and it made the fight feel better than the usual filler stuff

EPISODE CONTEXT

Sitting deep in the filler stretch of Naruto's original run, this is the middle chapter of the Kurosuki Family Removal Mission arc. The previous episode, 'The Dark Creeping Clouds,' established Raiga's return as a looming threat, and this episode escalates that conflict to its peak intensity. It feeds directly into 'Run! The Curry of Life,' which handles the aftermath and resolution of the confrontation.
