You can tell this is filler once the turtle gets thrown into that pot of curry and Lee just eats it while he is still sleepwalking

Ranmaru having that ocular power that makes fake chakra ghosts is such a strange ability and it seems like it would be a huge problem for someone like Neji

I think that opening scene with the funeral for the guy who was still breathing was actually really dark for a filler episode

Watching Rock Lee run for three days straight in his sleep is just classic Lee energy and nobody else could ever pull that off

Neji getting annoyed with Naruto and Lee being way too competitive over every little thing on the way to the village makes me laugh

Those dual blades Raiga uses are so cool and seeing another one of the seven swordsmen show up after Zabuza makes the world feel much bigger, even if this is a filler arc

Watching Lee pass out from that spicy curry and then hearing about the turtle ingredients was just plain uncomfortable and strange for this show

I really liked the weirdly close bond between Raiga and the kid on his back and it makes me wonder how they even ended up traveling together

This arc is starting off much stronger than the usual filler even if the stuff with the turtle in the curry was completely unnecessary and gross. Raiga has a really intimidating presence for a swordsman of the mist, and the way Ranmaru can mess with the byakugan makes for a decent threat. Having Team Guy around more often is great.

The opening with the funeral where they bury the guy alive is easily the darkest way to start an episode and it set a really grim tone for Raiga as a villain

Someone actually found a way to trick Neji and his byakugan and those red eye powers from the little kid feel like a genuine threat for the team

I honestly found Rock Lee a bit much in this one because his shouting match with Naruto felt forced, but that Curry of Life was just too weird to look at.

That new member of the seven ninja swordsmen is cool and the way Raiga buries his enemies alive with a funeral march makes him one of the meanest villains we have seen in a while

Putting a whole live turtle into that curry was absolutely disgusting and it is hard to see why they thought that was funny because it just made the kitchen staff look unnecessarily cruel to the animal

That funeral for the living was so unsettling and I actually felt bad for the guy getting buried while he was still screaming and it definitely caught me off guard for a filler episode

Naruto only went on this trip because he was told he might find the Akatsuki and it is kind of sad seeing him get his hopes up over nothing just for the sake of a filler plot

The dark atmosphere of the funeral march is a huge surprise, and even though it is filler, those weird undertaker guys are a lot more intimidating than the villains from the last arc

That chakra mist was crazy because it actually confused the Byakugan and it adds some real tension to this mission since Neji is usually totally unbeatable

I felt so bad for the villagers getting stuck with those funeral ceremonies and the Kurosuki gang is actually terrifying for a bunch of non-canon villains that just show up out of nowhere

You can tell this is filler because the writing for Team Guy feels so off and they all have zero chemistry together right now plus the pacing feels like a total slog

EPISODE CONTEXT

Episode 152 launches the Kurosuki Family Removal Mission arc, arriving after the Search for the Bikōchū Arc wraps up. Sitting well past the halfway mark of Naruto's 220-episode run, this is firmly in the show's extended filler stretch before Shippuden. It functions as pure setup — introducing the arc's central conflict and assembling the team — with subsequent episodes carrying the action and resolution.
