My heart sank when Choji was bleeding in the dirt after all those insults about being a sacrificial pawn but Shikamaru believing in him makes that bond so special

Jirobo is such a jerk for mocking Choji and that huge boulder lift was actually terrifying but the big guy is holding his own with the spinach pill

I always thought Choji was just for laughs and seeing him stand up to that sound guy alone really changed how I see him

That sound ninja really thought he was something special until Choji popped that second pill and started fighting back with more chakra than you ever expected after seeing him in those earlier episodes

It was heartbreaking when Choji handed over the food pills because you knew he was saying goodbye, but that final massive punch definitely proved he is way more than just a backup ninja.

The spike human bullet tank looked so much more dangerous with the kunai and seeing Jirobo actually bleed for the first time made the fight feel like it was finally turning around for the leaf

You can really tell how much Shikamaru respects Choji by how he didn't even argue about leaving him behind and that yellow pill transformation was such a massive jump in power for our boy

My heart actually hurt when Choji remembered being left out by the other kids but then he took that yellow pill and the blue chakra went everywhere and he looked like a total beast

Jirobo is such a generic villain who just calls everyone fat or weak but the actual mechanics of the Akimichi pills are pretty interesting and the stakes feel high since they might actually kill Choji

I always thought Choji was just there for laughs, but seeing him decide to risk his life with those colored pills really changed my mind about him. Jirobo kept calling everyone trash and it was making me so mad, so when Choji finally used that giant fist to blast him through the forest it was the most satisfying moment yet.

Watching Jirobo lift that massive earth boulder was terrifying but then Choji just used a partial expansion to smack him away and it felt so good to see that arrogant guy get humbled

The way Shikamaru just knew Choji could handle it even with those crazy death pills made their friendship feel so much more real and Choji finally getting to show off his actual power was awesome

I really felt for Choji during those flashbacks because everyone was so mean to him for no reason and seeing him stand up to that jerk Jirobo with the green pill was so cool

Nothing beats the look on Shikamaru's face when he trusts Choji with those food pills because their friendship is the most genuine thing in the whole show

That final shot of the giant arm coming out of nowhere to blast Jirobo across the forest was such a great way to end the fight
gisell_ghoul_485's avatar

That massive fist slamming into Jirobo at the end was the best thing, especially after hearing that loser talk trash about the leaf genin for twenty minutes straight

My heart broke for Choji when Jirobo called him a pawn because he is actually the most loyal guy on the whole retrieval squad
ves_ves's avatar

I really felt for Choji during those flashbacks, because being the one everyone looks down on is something I relate to a lot and he finally stood his ground and used the secret pills for his friends which was such a huge win and it looked so bad when Jirobo activated the curse mark, but that ending fist was massive

Hearing Jirobo call Choji a sacrificial pawn made it so much better when that massive chakra erupted and shut him up for good

The tension when Choji realizes those pills might kill him but he takes them anyway to save the squad is so intense and selfless

EPISODE CONTEXT

Falling in the middle stretch of Naruto's original run, episode 113 continues the high-stakes retrieval mission arc where the team has just escaped the Earth Dome Prison. Choji stays behind to hold off a powerful enemy solo, allowing his teammates to push forward—setting the pattern of individual sacrificial battles that will define the next several episodes. This is a pivotal canon episode that transitions the arc from team-based encounters to emotionally intense one-on-one confrontations.
