QUICK TAKES

Shikamaru is a genius for tricking his own friends just to get a reaction out of Jirobo, and the payoff of the Human Bullet Tank shattering the dome was perfect
rauru's avatar

Neji using the Byakugan to spot the slow healing parts of the rock wall was a great call and it worked perfectly with the strategy Shikamaru set up

Shikamaru's brain is just unfair, like, who even thinks to use the sound of a *voice* to map out an entire barrier when everyone's chakra is just draining away? I was genuinely worried the mission was toast before it began, but seeing Choji dig deep and step up after all that felt like a true moment of growth for him.

Jirobo is such a creep for calling their chakra delicious while he slowly eats them alive and it makes the final breakout feel ten times better when they finally stand their ground

You can see the fear on Narutos face when the Rasengan just dies in his hand and it shows how scary these Sound Four guys actually are when they get the upper hand
kagamine_twins_495's avatar

Choji didnt even blink when Shikamaru was acting crazy because their bond is so deep he just knew there was a plan underneath all that shouting and arguing

The atmosphere inside that dark dome was so heavy and you can tell the stakes are jumping way up now that the team has to split up for these individual fights
gorman_brothers's avatar

I was losing my mind when Shikamaru started acting like a coward and I really thought he was selling out the team but then the reveal showed he was just baiting Jirobo to find the weak spot
palla_palla's avatar

I was getting so mad at Naruto and Kiba for falling for the act, but seeing Choji smash through the wall at the end made the whole fake mutiny thing worth it
zuna_293's avatar
zuna_293
The way that earth dome kept healing every time Kiba hit it was stressful and you can feel how desperate they are getting as their chakra disappears into the walls
raphtalia_raccoon's avatar
raphtalia_raccoon
Neji using the Byakugan to track the chakra flow inside the rock was such a smart use of his eyes to help Shikamaru confirm the plan

I was genuinely stressed when Shikamaru started acting like a coward because it felt so out of character, but the reveal that he was just baiting Jirobo to talk so he could locate him was brilliant. It really shows why he was the only one who made chunin and seeing Choji take the lead at the end was great

Watching the Sound Four split up means the real fights are starting and Jirobo staying behind to face the whole squad is a bold move

It is kind of annoying how Naruto never listens to orders and just tries to punch his way through everything even when it clearly is not working
prince_demande_379's avatar

Shikamaru played Jirobo like a fiddle by making him believe the team was falling apart and it was the only way to find where the chakra was thinnest
nami_navigator_82's avatar

I honestly felt so bad for Choji when he was just eating snacks and getting judged, but then he came through and absolutely leveled that barrier
izayoi_259's avatar

The way the walls kept regenerating every time Kiba tried to drill through made it seem like they were going to be stuck there forever
brock's avatar

Jirobo talking down to everyone while they were trapped made it so much better when Choji finally smashed through that wall
asukawaifu's avatar

That earth dome was terrifying because seeing Naruto unable to even form a Rasengan makes the situation feel so desperate and claustrophobic

I really thought Shikamaru was about to betray the team for a second but he was actually just being smart to find that weak spot while everyone was yelling at him

EPISODE CONTEXT

Sitting roughly at the midpoint of Naruto's full 220-episode run, this episode continues the momentum from the Sound Village confrontations, where the squad's mission took a dangerous turn against formidable enemies. The fractures in team unity explored here directly set the stage for episode 113, 'Full Throttle Power! Choji, Ablaze!', where individual squad members step into the spotlight for personal showcase battles — a shift this episode earns by establishing just how dire the situation has become.
