This is episode is skippable. Though you can watch it, it only show in detailed of what happened, Shikamaru remembering about Azuma, Naruto using rasenshuriken

I am still thinking about that burial scene because it was so brutal but so right for a guy like Hidan who thought he was untouchable. Seeing Shikamaru carry Asuma's lighter and finally getting that closure made my eyes water, especially when the forest itself became the prison. It felt like the perfect tribute to his sensei

Shikamaru, who always tried to get out of everything, really blew me away with how he took down Hidan all by himself. I never thought I'd see him strategize with such cold calculation, especially after Asuma's death, but he just utterly dominated the fight.

Hidan getting buried alive in that forest was so dark and cold and he totally deserved it for what he did to Asuma

I think the way Shikamaru used Hidan's own blood and immortality against him is the smartest thing we have ever seen in this show

My favorite part was definitely when Naruto showed up to help Kakashi and everyone else, even if his new jutsu is clearly not finished yet

Why did Naruto have those weird nine tails slits in his blue eyes at the end of the episode because it looked like a mistake or some weird new power

When Asuma appeared behind Shikamaru right before he finished Hidan, I honestly got chills all over again. It wasn't just a vision for me; it felt like Asuma was truly there, giving Shikamaru that last bit of strength and permission to finally get his closure and move on.

Seriously, Shikamaru's whole 'digging two graves' bit gave me chills; I don't think I've ever seen him lay out the consequences so starkly before. It really showed me how he's not just smart, but willing to shoulder the heavy, grim truths that others shy away from, making me wonder how he even lives with that kind of calculated foresight.

That raw, unhinged scream Hidan let out as he was buried alive gave me chills; his absolute commitment to Jashin is something I just can't wrap my head around. It makes me seriously question if Shikamaru will ever truly shake the feeling that Hidan's still down there, potentially coming back.

I totally gasped when Naruto showed up, clutch as ever with that crazy Rasenshuriken, just as Shikamaru's team was in deep trouble. Seeing Kakuzu actually look nervous, like he hadn't seen something that powerful in ages, really made me feel like Naruto's finally hitting a new level of strength that even these Akatsuki guys have to respect.

Hidan's head just kept yapping after Shikamaru took it clean off, and I genuinely got chills; that was way more unsettling than I ever expected from the guy. Shikamaru, standing there utterly calm and in control, really cemented for me how Asuma's death has ignited this intense, almost frighteningly focused resolve in him now.

I was so hyped to see Shikamaru finally get his revenge, and watching him bury Hidan alive in that forest felt brutally fitting, like he *had* to do it for Asuma. Even though Hidan's still technically alive down there, I just kept thinking how much Shikamaru earned that moment, and honestly, the relief was huge. Then Naruto swooping in right at the end with that insane new jutsu was such a crazy, powerful finish.

Shikamaru's sheer cunning, using Hidan’s own blood against him, had me absolutely gripped, and I felt such a surge of pride seeing him finally get some closure. My heart ached a little for the lengths he went to, but after Asuma-sensei's death, I just wanted him to succeed in taking Hidan down, no matter what.

Those bright blue line eyes on Naruto at the very end really threw me for a loop, I wasn't expecting him to unlock something so significant right now. It makes me wonder if this is the start of him finally mastering the Nine-Tails' power, or something entirely new that'll change everything for him.

I seriously couldn't believe my eyes when Kakuzu, *that* Kakuzu, actually looked scared facing Naruto's new spinning jutsu; it felt like such a massive shift, finally seeing someone like him shaken after all the trouble they caused.

I was seriously impressed seeing Shikamaru strategically use those lighters, it really cemented for me just how far he’s come from his lazy days, especially remembering Asuma. That final explosion in the forest wasn't just a jutsu; it felt like a raw, personal release of all his pain and resolve.

Hidan's severed head, still raging and spewing curses from the bottom of that pit, really unnerved me. After what he put Asuma through, you'd think he'd get a proper, quiet end, but nope – the guy's just too stubbornly evil to quit, and I found his sheer persistence absolutely chilling.

Shikamaru carefully lighting that last cigarette for Asuma just gutted me; seeing him so calm and focused in that moment felt like he wasn't just saying goodbye, but truly accepting the weight of everything that happened. I kept thinking about how he usually avoids all that trouble, but here he was, quietly stepping up to take on Asuma's will without even a word.

Seeing Hidan still screaming after getting buried alive was seriously unsettling; I can't help but wonder if he's actually immortal or if Shikamaru just sentenced him to an eternal underground nap. It's kinda messed up to think about, honestly.

EPISODE CONTEXT

This episode lands at the climax of Shikamaru's vendetta arc against the Akatsuki duo Hidan and Kakuzu, building directly on the strategic groundwork laid in the preceding episodes where Shikamaru formulated his plan. It represents the emotional and narrative peak of one of Shippuden's most beloved character-driven arcs before the series pivots toward Naruto's own growth with the Wind Style: Rasen Shuriken training arc. At episode 87 of 500, this is still early Shippuden establishing that the new generation can carry the weight of real stakes.
