This must watch for high excitement tension. Shimakaru's battle intelligence is top notch, able to deceive Hidan.

I think I forgot to breathe when Shikamaru pulled out that vial and revealed he had outplayed them the entire time. It makes sense why they call him a genius, but seeing him actually pull it off against an immortal guy is just different. Plus Naruto finally showing up with Yamato to save the day, made me scream at my screen

I was stunned when I realized Shikamaru swapped the blood and Hidan actually stabbed his own partner instead of killing him

Kakuzu getting his own heart destroyed by his teammate because of a vial of blood is such a wild twist that nobody could have seen coming

Watching Hidan look so confused when his curse didnt kill Shikamaru was the best part and it really showed how much smarter he is than everyone else

Naruto arriving right when Kakashi was about to be finished was such a massive moment and that new vortex jutsu looked incredible

Hidan's endless ranting was really grating on my nerves, making me wonder if anyone could ever shut him up for good. But then Shikamaru's brilliant forest trap snapped into place, and I felt such a surge of vindication, knowing he had finally outsmarted that loudmouth.

The way Shikamaru brilliantly trapped Hidan in those woods, it really had me on edge, realizing he wasn't just executing a strategy but channeling all his grief over Asuma into this cold, precise act of vengeance. I couldn't help but feel a chill seeing him so driven by that dark focus.

Kakuzu just not staying down is driving me nuts; I mean, how are Shikamaru and the others even supposed to beat someone who literally stitches himself back together every time? It feels like this guy's resilience is on a whole different level compared to the other Akatsuki members we've faced, and I'm really starting to wonder if even Shikamaru's genius strategy will be enough this time.

My stomach dropped straight to my feet when Hidan put that scythe right through Shikamaru; I genuinely thought we were about to lose one of the best minds in Konoha. The relief and pure awe that washed over me once I realized it was all just a crazy calculated move by Shikamaru, man, that just solidified his place as a tactical legend in my book.

Whoa, I was seriously on the edge of my seat when that huge fire attack came at Choji and Ino, I thought they were goners for sure. But then Naruto and Yamato pulled off that combined jutsu, and I just couldn't believe how perfectly they shut it down; it was such a relief to see them safe.

When Shikamaru finally led Hidan into those woods, I got this shiver down my spine, knowing he wasn't just fighting but executing a masterful plan for Asuma. My jaw practically hit the floor as he revealed the blood vial switcheroo, a move so intricate it confirmed for me that he truly is the genius strategist Konoha desperately needed to avenge his sensei.

I was absolutely cheering when Hidan started freaking out and screaming, honestly, Shikamaru just played him like a fiddle and it was so satisfying to watch. My guy really used Hidan's own madness against him, and I think that's why it felt extra good, knowing that psycho finally got what he deserved after all the trouble he caused.

When Kakuzu just got back up again, using those creepy elemental masks to replace his heart, I literally gasped. It felt like no matter what they did, he was just impossible to put down for good, which was so frustrating to watch.

I was seriously holding my breath for Kakashi and the squad, feeling like they were totally cornered and about to be done for. Then, out of nowhere, Naruto and Yamato showed up with that massive water vortex, and my jaw just dropped seeing how perfectly they combined their power to completely turn the tide.

Dude, I seriously thought Shikamaru was a goner when Hidan jabbed him with that spear, my heart totally dropped. But then, *bam*, it was just another one of Shikamaru's insane strategies, pulling off that blood swap with such calm. It's so him to be steps ahead like that.

I was seriously blown away when Shikamaru revealed that blood capsule stunt; he was seriously playing 4D chess, planning for Kakuzu the entire time he was fighting Hidan. It just cemented my respect for his intelligence and how deep his resolve runs to avenge Asuma.

I was totally shocked when Hidan's ritual backfired on Kakuzu; I mean, he was so confident, thinking he'd finished Shikamaru off, and then *bam*, his own partner gets hit! It really made me think about how much Hidan underestimates his opponents, even with his immortality.

Shikamaru just quietly flipping Asuma's lighter to bury Hidan felt like such a perfect, almost poetic, end for that guy. I can't even imagine the mix of relief and lingering pain he must've been feeling, finally getting justice for his sensei with that meaningful object.

I was so shocked when Shikamaru pulled that off, like, for real, getting Hidan to use Kakuzu's blood was just brilliant. The look on Hidan's face when he realized his own partner was the one taking damage was absolutely priceless; I bet he felt so dumb in that moment.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Episode 86 sits in the middle of the Akatsuki confrontation arc, following the reveal of Kakuzu's formidable abilities and pivoting the focus squarely onto Shikamaru's one-on-one battle of wits against Hidan. This is a canon episode that builds directly on the stakes established in prior installments while setting the stage for the next phase of combat as the battle's dynamics continue to shift. It's a critical character-defining moment for Shikamaru within the broader Akatsuki threat that dominates this stretch of Shippuden.
