Ino giving Sakura that red ribbon was so sweet and it really makes the later rivalry feel like such a tragedy. Best friends turning into enemies over a boy is just rough

When Itachi gave Sasuke that forehead poke as kids, my heart absolutely broke for what was to come for them. I kept thinking about all the pain Sasuke went through, and how much he just adored his big brother in that moment, before everything got so messed up.

Itachi and Sasuke sleeping outside on the porch was so soft and it makes me wish we got more of them just being a family. They deserved this peace

That moment Sasuke asked "who are you" to Sakura was brutal, but it makes her training later on feel a lot more personal even if this is filler content.

I am so confused by that Virgin Mary statue in the secret hideout and it feels so out of place for this world. It completely distracted me from the cute scene with the bird

I lost it when Sakura finally snapped and punched that tree. Inner Sakura coming out because of a crush is relatable and poor Naruto just got blasted for being in the way

Ino giving Sakura that red ribbon was such a good moment and it sucks that they became rivals so fast because they were actually great together

Young Sasuke blushing when Itachi poked his forehead was too much and it just reminds you how innocent he used to be before his whole world got destroyed

I honestly forgot how much Ino helped Sakura with her confidence and seeing their friendship fall apart over a crush on Sasuke still makes me feel frustrated for them

Sakura's dad making fun of her hair during dinner was actually pretty funny, and it was nice to finally see her parents since they never show up in the main story

Sakura getting rejected by Sasuke at the academy was brutal and her punching that tree until she accidentally sent Naruto flying was hilarious

It really got to me seeing Itachi and Sasuke as regular siblings, especially when Itachi cooked that huge feast and promised they would spend time together soon. It makes the whole Uchiha tragedy feel even worse because you see how much they actually loved each other as kids and Sasuke just wanted his brother to notice him

Sakura having a random Virgin Mary statue in her secret hideout is the weirdest thing I have seen in this show and I have so many questions about what the animators were thinking

Itachi making that massive mountain of food for Sasuke was the cutest thing and seeing them just being normal brothers before everything went bad felt so heavy

I really felt bad for Sakura when she was hiding her forehead in that tree and then Ino giving her that ribbon was so sweet and it actually made me smile a lot

ino giving sakura that red ribbon and telling her she was cute was such a pure friend moment and it makes the way they treat each other later in the academy feel so much more bitter

inner sakura coming out for the first time by accidentally punching naruto into the trees was hilarious and it explains so much about the way they act in the early days of the academy

sasuke looked so genuinely happy when itachi told him he would surpass him one day and it is just depressing to think about how that childhood innocence gets destroyed so soon after this

Itachi showing off his cooking skills was the highlight for me because I always thought he just lived on cabbage and tea but he turned out to be an iron chef in the kitchen

That statue in Sakura's secret tree hideout looked exactly like the Virgin Mary and there are so many questions about why that was even there. It felt so out of place for the Naruto world but the rest of the episode was actually pretty nice and it was cool seeing Itachi act like a normal big brother who actually knows how to cook.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Positioned in the Boyhood Arc near the tail end of Shippuden's 500-episode run, Episode 481 follows Episode 480's spotlight on Naruto and Hinata's childhoods and continues the pattern of reflective, filler-based character origin vignettes. It directly sets up Episode 482, 'Gaara and Shikamaru,' which broadens the arc's scope to additional fan-favorite characters. These episodes serve as a cooldown between the series' climactic battles and its eventual conclusion, offering emotional context rather than plot advancement.
