i found the origin of the senju and uchiha rivalry fascinating and ashura winning because of his bonds felt like the perfect precursor to naruto

that giant buddha statue coming out of nowhere was such a cool way to show ashura using the village chakra and seeing him stand his ground against the susanoo actually made sense for once

indra having the exact same susanoo color and mangekyo pattern as sasuke feels a bit lazy on the animation side but zetsu whispering in his ear was definitely creepy

That moment when you realize Indra lost to the power of cooperation and then just decided to curse the entire future of the world was such a cold way to start a rivalry

Hagoromo choosing the son who cared about people instead of the one who was just strong was the only way this could end and Indra losing his mind over it was inevitable

Indra unleashing the Amaterasu really hit me hard because it showed he was always the original villain even if Hagoromo could have handled his sons a lot better

I really appreciated how this episode finally bridged the gap between the legend of the Sage and the current war. Seeing Ashura use those wind spheres that look just like the Rasengan gave me chills and it made the fight against Indra feel way more personal. Even if people call it filler, my mind is blown by how well it sets up Naruto and Sasuke

Having the exact same Susanoo as Sasuke for Indra felt a bit lazy, but it does hammer home how this cycle of hatred has been repeating for centuries without any change

Black Zetsu whispering in the ear of a literal genius and ruining his life is the most frustrating thing to watch but it explains so much about why the Uchiha ended up so messed up

Seeing everyone give their chakra to Ashura to stop the Susanoo was such a great way to show why bonds matter and it proved Hagoromo made the right call

I am still reeling from Ashura pulling out that massive Buddha statue because seeing the origins of Hashirama and Naruto styles combined like that made the whole reincarnation cycle click for me

Indra killing his friends just to get that Mangekyo was honestly so dark and it really showed how far he fell after Hagoromo passed him over for the title of successor

It felt weird seeing Indra with Sasuke's exact Mangekyo pattern and it felt like the animators were just trying too hard to link them up visually

Asura looked so powerful with that chakra cloak and the music during his fight with Indra was really intense

The way they showed the cycle moving from Hashirama and Madara down to Naruto and Sasuke made the fated rivalry feel a lot more inevitable

Hearing that badass music when Asura and Indra started fighting really made the whole conflict feel much more massive

I know this is technically filler and people are mad about it, but honestly the backstory is interesting enough to make it worth watching. Seeing the origin of the feud between Naruto and Sasuke through their ancestors was cool, even if the eyes and Susanoo designs were just reused. The fight scenes had some great animation and that soundtrack is just awesome

My heart sank seeing Indra go full villain and his Susanoo looked just like Madara which really hammered home that reincarnation cycle thing

Hagoromo choosing Asura over Indra made sense for the bonds theme and the battle between them had some of the best music in the whole arc

Even though this arc is basically filler it feels necessary to see Hagoromo choose his successor, but the studio definitely got lazy by just reusing Sasuke's eye design for Indra

EPISODE CONTEXT

Picking up directly after 'Ashura's Decision,' where both brothers proved themselves through separate missions, episode 468 brings the Indra-Asura backstory arc to its critical inflection point with Hagoromo's choice of heir. This filler arc has been building the mythological foundation for the Naruto-Sasuke rivalry, and this episode crystallizes that ideological split. The following episode, 'A Special Mission,' pivots back to the present timeline with Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura, signaling the end of this extended flashback detour.
