QUICK TAKES

Samehada rejecting Kisame and wanting Bee instead was a brutal way for a sword to act. It really shows how much the Akatsuki are losing their grip when even their weapons start betraying them

It felt a bit like filler even though it is canon, especially with the way the pacing slowed down after the Minato and Kushina stuff. Naruto hurting his ankle right after looking so cool was such a weird writing choice

I have been waiting for this rematch since the start of Shippuden, but the animation for Afternoon Tiger felt a bit flat compared to the manga panels. It was still great to see Guy open the Seventh Gate and show why he is the best at taijutsu. Watching Naruto struggle with his new speed and get his foot stuck was actually hilarious

Guy really hit Kisame with a giant air pressure tiger and did not even use chakra. That is the most Guy thing ever and it makes the power scaling feel so much more grounded

Seeing Guy go seventh gate and use Afternoon Tiger was the highlight even if the art looked a bit off. It is wild that he keeps forgetting who Kisame is every time they meet

I can't believe Naruto finally got that power up just to get his foot stuck in a wall. The way he sensed Kisame inside the sword was cool but the ankle twist killed the mood

When Guy opened those gates right there in the middle of the ocean, I was seriously wondering if he had a death wish, but then I remembered how he always pushes past every limit, totally ignoring whatever Kisame tried to throw at him. He just doesn't back down, does he?

Did anyone else get super nostalgic seeing Guy summon that turtle again? I remember thinking way back in the Chunin Exams that it was just a quirky little platform, but seeing him actually *fight* with it now made me realize how much he's always had up his sleeve, even if he doesn't always show it. He really surprised me with that!

Guy having to unleash the Seventh Gate just to keep pace with Kisame's frantic escape attempt with the scrolls truly caught me off guard. That dude Kisame still commanded such ruthless power; I seriously questioned if even Guy at his peak could truly overcome that without sacrificing everything.

I was seriously blown away seeing Naruto pick up Kisame's presence through Samehada like that, his Sage Mode is getting insane! But honestly, I kinda cracked up when he face-planted after, like, can this guy ever stick a landing when he's going all out with his new powers?

Guy Sensei going all out against Kisame was such a jolt, especially after my brain was still reeling from Minato and Kushina's story—I needed that kind of intense action. It felt a little weird, though, that some of his biggest attacks didn't look quite as sharp as the flashbacks that just wrecked me, which kinda pulled me out of the moment.

My jaw seriously dropped when Guy flipped the switch from silly to completely serious, and that Hirudora blast was just insane. I never expected him to unleash something so massive and destructive, especially after all the taijutsu training we've watched him put in; it makes me wonder what else he's secretly got up his sleeve.

Talk about an emotional rollercoaster – one minute I’m tearing up over Kushina and Minato, the next Kisame is being yanked right out of Samehada! I was so surprised he even managed to hide in there without anyone noticing, and honestly, seeing him finally caught after all his sneaky moves felt incredibly deserved.

I was totally on the edge of my seat waiting for Guy to bust out the Seven Gates again, and man, seeing him unleash Hirudora on Kisame and those sharks felt so earned after everything he's been through with Kakashi and Lee. I knew he had it in him, but Kisame was just so relentless.

Naruto just face-planting into that wall while trying to get a handle on the Nine-Tails' speed totally cracked me up, I gotta admit. It's wild to see him with so much raw power, but then he just does something so hilariously clumsy, and it makes me wonder how long it'll actually take for him to master all that beast mode without tripping over himself.

Guy's memory loss for Kisame, *again*, just cracks me up; how does he keep doing that after everything they's been through? I gotta wonder if Kisame is secretly just *so* annoyed at being forgotten constantly. But then that turtle summoning totally pulled them out of a tight spot during the chase, which honestly caught me completely off guard and made me breathe a sigh of relief.

When I saw Guy go all blue and summon that giant air tiger punch, my jaw seriously dropped; it made me totally rethink how strong he actually is beyond all the silliness. I mean, he's always been a powerhouse, but this just showed me he could legitimately be the strongest in Konoha when he really unleashes, which is wild.

I seriously couldn't believe Kisame was still kicking after getting wrecked by Guy's Seventh Gate, like, how tenacious can one guy be? It just blew my mind how dedicated he was to keeping those intel secrets, even in that state, which honestly makes me wonder what kind of loyalty he was instilled with.

Did anyone else feel like the animation completely dropped off for the Guy and Kisame fight after all the emotional fireworks with Minato and Kushina? My anticipation for the Seventh Gate clash was so high, but the visual quality really pulled me out of the action on that island, which was a real shame after those incredible flashbacks.

The Hirudora attack definitely didn't hit me with the visual force I expected after reading the manga, and I was a little let down by that. But watching Kisame's face twist in disbelief when he realized his chakra absorption meant absolutely nothing against Guy's raw, physical power? That was incredibly satisfying, I saw his entire confidence just evaporate.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming directly after 'Thank You' (Episode 249), which provided emotional resolution to Naruto's pivotal internal journey, this episode marks a sharp tonal shift back to external battlefield conflicts. It serves as the explosive middle chapter of a mini-arc, bridging Naruto's personal growth with the wider war narrative and setting up 'The Man Named Kisame' (Episode 251), which explores the deeper consequences of this confrontation.
