Seeing Yamato use his wood style just to make a tiny fishing rod is the kind of silly stuff that makes these fillers worth it, even if the main story is paused.

I found that fisherman Yusuke so annoying because he kept complaining while Naruto and the guys were just trying to help him catch that monster

Might Guy getting that sea sick while he is one of the strongest ninjas on the planet is such a funny contrast to his usual energy

I can't believe they just slammed the brakes on the main story to have us help some random fisherman on this boat trip! My excitement was building, but now I'm just hoping this whole detour doesn't stretch out for too long, 'cause we were finally getting somewhere important.

Yamato building an entire ship from scratch with his wood style makes you realize how convenient his powers are for traveling

Guy using his inner gates just to speed up a boat is actually hilarious and shows how extra he is for no reason

I'm so over these random filler detours, especially when I see Naruto having to deal with someone as stubbornly ungrateful as Yusuke. It just makes me wonder if these guys ever stop to think about all the crap Naruto's been through, or if they just expect him to solve everything without an ounce of appreciation.

Ugh, I really couldn't stand that kid Yusuke in this episode; he was just constantly yelling for no actual reason, and honestly, it felt like the writers just wanted to annoy me personally with his shrill voice. I'm genuinely hoping he vanishes forever and we never have to hear him again because that was just too much.

I got such a huge sigh of relief when that sea monster fight finally kicked in; *that's* the Naruto I signed up for! Honestly, the whole setup with that random kid and all the silly comedy just left me completely baffled, wondering what they were even trying to accomplish with that filler.

Ugh, Yusuke's attitude in this episode just got under my skin so much, I kept wishing Naruto would just deck him already. Seriously, I felt like I was watching filler for filler's sake, and it's a real shame considering how many awesome fights we've seen before.

Ugh, I really thought Yamato and Aoba were going to get some cool action, but they just ended up feeling like they were totally wasted this whole episode; it's a shame when characters I like just get sidelined for no real reason.

I gotta say, the animation for that giant fish was pretty neat, but honestly, the whole rest of the voyage just felt like it was dragging its feet, and I was kinda checking my watch by the end. Like, what was even the point, you know?

That seasickness bit with Guy just kept dragging on, even after they finally docked, and honestly, I expected it to pivot into something hilarious like his usual gags do. I found myself wishing they'd just move past it because it wasn't landing for me at all, which felt pretty out of character for his brand of comedy.

I swear, every time we get a filler arc like this, it just makes me miss the main story so much more; I really thought after the last few episodes we'd finally get back to some real action. And honestly, Yusuke was just the most grating character, my patience was seriously tested by his antics, feeling like we were stuck in a loop.

Getting to see that sea monster was awesome, and I was really hyped for some action, but then Yusuke just started acting like such a little brat. It completely pulled me out of the episode, and I couldn't help but wonder if he just thrives on annoying everyone, which then made Guy's convenient seasickness feel like a transparent ploy to make the episode longer.

I gotta say, that giant marlin was pretty wild, and the fight was decent enough, but man, Yusuke's constant whining just got on my nerves, seriously ruining the vibe for me. I just don't get why he had to be so irritating.

Ugh, I swear Guy sensei throwing up every two seconds was getting on my last nerve; like, come on already, Naruto's trying to get some serious training done and I just wanna see him do it!

Honestly, I was so annoyed with Yusuke for being such a jerk! Naruto and Yamato put in all that effort, and for him to just be ungrateful about getting help catching a fish really got under my skin, especially when they're always going out of their way for people.

I gotta say, while it was cool to see Aoba actually do something useful with his crows, I just couldn't stop laughing at Guy powering that ship with pure sickness! It reminded me how ridiculous but awesome he can be, especially when he's going all out, even if it's just to get a ship moving.

Ugh, this boat arc is starting so slow, I'm already a little impatient wanting to see Naruto train with Killer Bee! Yusuke is being such a pain, I get he's worried about his dad but he's just delaying things and making it harder for everyone to help him; though, Yamato making that boat and fishing rod was pretty neat, I guess.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Positioned after the pivotal Five Kage Summit arc where major wartime decisions were made, this filler episode uses Naruto's departure on a supposed top-secret mission as a narrative bridge. It's the beginning of a filler stretch that delays the core storyline, sitting well before the show's return to canon material. The next few episodes continue in this vein, with 'The Ninja of Benisu' following a similar standalone adventure format.
