Episode Context

Sitting in the midst of the Six-Tails filler arc, this episode follows 'Successor of the Forbidden Jutsu,' where Naruto's team escorted Hotaru to her village, and directly builds tension around the threats closing in on her. It bridges into 'Rogue Ninja's Past,' which pivots toward Utakata's backstory and its consequences for the ongoing mission. Canon viewers can skip this stretch entirely without losing main-plot continuity.
