Episode Context

Sitting deep in a filler stretch around the midpoint of Shippuden's 500-episode run, this episode continues the Hotaru escort arc that began with 'Wanderer,' where Team 7 first encountered the young kunoichi and her clan's forbidden jutsu. It directly sets up 'The Successor's Wish,' where Hotaru's heritage and the motives of those pursuing her come into sharper focus.
