I Thought this would be fanservice episode but it turns out to be a vital one. It focuses on the past of Natsuki and why she became a HiMe

So we are going for this format now, but I guess for a story like this it would be rather appropriate. It's like a wholesome, slice-of-life story mixed in with extremely grim conspiracies and the effort to unravel the mysteries while coping with childhood trauma. Yes, it sounds convoluted, but it can work if you maintain a steady narrative pace. And I think the show is managing well in that department, for now. But things must change sooner or later and I hope they don't break the immersion once it does. Yes, the show still has my interest, but I'm still expecting more though.

We've strayed away from the plot a bit, but not quite. This episode had a more relaxed pace with a few funny moments, picking up towards the end. I do feel bad for Natsuki, the poor girl bears the brunt of all the jokes. The relationship between Tate and Mai is annoying; the inconsistency in their interactions bothers me.
