The animation is lit, the lighting, the pacing, the characters, and the sound fit perfectly. It's lively and fun. I like how everyone admits to their own role and having a blast of teamwork. It's a good episode

I bet the anime only watchers would say, "There isn't much happening in this episode" then they are absolutely wrong. Think of it as a foundation for the future events of this arc. As always the background art is still beautiful and I'm amazed how the studio can adapt the coloring and art for the shoujo anime scene.

The overall story grinds to a halt in favor of focusing on the school festival subplot. This time, Marin has to crossdress for a school pageant, and Gojo has to make her an outfit using the knowledge he gained from Amane.

the school setting gets a BEAUTIFUL lighting upgrade this episode. sunset scenes are painterly. the contrast between chaotic classroom energy and quiet craft room moments is paced perfectly. marin's seiyuu delivers some of her best line reads yet. 👑

What an amazing side story. It’s really immersive and a total tear-jerker. I love how everyone shares the same idea. With how supportive everyone is, Gojo is finally pumped up. On a funny note, leaving the shopping to Marin is definitely a no-no, Gojo! Really an amazing episode!

Class 1-5 were so cool for telling Gojo they would handle the heavy lifting so he could sew and they actually respect his talent instead of making fun of him

I actually really enjoyed that long PrezHost segment even if some people found it boring and seeing Gojo get all emotional over the host story made me laugh

The whole idea of a beauty pageant where girls dress as boys is exactly the kind of chaos this class needs and Marin is going to dominate the stage as a host

Seeing Gojo sprint to the train station to meet Marin was such a good moment because he stopped being scared of the deadline and just felt motivated instead

The way the guys in class recognized Gojo as a specialist was a huge moment, and it feels like he is finally finding his place in the group.

Gojou and Marin really outdid themselves, didn't they? I swear, finding that perfect matte satin for Rei-sama must've felt like hitting the jackpot for them, and it just shows how much heart they put into every single detail.

Marin looked absolutely electric when the teacher started explaining the beauty pageant rules; I swear, she was already hosting the whole thing in her head! Her eagerness to jump in and make it special as the host is so contagious.

Marin saying he has all her measurements memorized is a pretty big deal, and the way she was so casual about it makes their bond feel so much more real than most romance leads

I found it so touching when Gojo cried while watching that host drama and it shows how much he respects the characters he makes clothes for

Marin jumping out of her seat when she heard about the cross-dressing rule was perfect because her face just lit up the second she realized she could cosplay as a guy for the pageant

I felt so happy seeing Marin try to help with the fabric shopping and sewing even if she didn't know what she was doing at first because it shows they are a real team now and that comment about Gojo having her measurements memorized was such a small but sweet detail that shows how close they have actually become over time

The classmates actually stepping up to help Gojo so he could focus on the sewing was a huge deal and it shows he is finally accepted by everyone

It was great to see Marin so hyped for the Rei-sama cosplay, and that specific host manga plot sounds like something she would be totally obsessed with.

Marin getting so hyped for the crossplay contest made that meeting so entertaining. She saw the masculine costume rules and her eyes just lit up immediately

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming off episode 3's deeper dive into Gojo's craftsmanship and dedication, this fourth episode escalates the stakes by piling real-world pressures on top of his passion project, marking a pivotal early-season turning point. It functions as a crucible moment for Gojo's character while deepening the Gojo-Marin dynamic in ways that the back half of the season will build upon. With eight episodes remaining, this installment plants the seeds for both personal growth and relationship progression heading into the season's midpoint.
