Episode Context

As the first episode of a 26-episode run, 'The Yakuza Wife' is pure setup, introducing Nagasumi, Sun, and the Seto yakuza family while establishing the central comedic conflict that drives the entire series. Everything here serves as the foundation for the escalating romantic comedy chaos to come, particularly the next episode 'The Lord of the Ring,' which begins unpacking the consequences of this premiere's wild premise. This is ground zero for the show's identity, so if the humor and tone land here, the rest of the season builds directly on this energy.
