Just like the other episodes, this one introduces us to yet another fascinating type of Mushi with a truly unique concept. The story really nails that classic Mushishi atmosphere, quiet, deeply mysterious, and slightly melancholic. It makes you reflect on memory and time, and how terrifying it would be to lose precious moments of your life without even realizing it. Definitely another solid and thought-provoking episode!
Episode 2 is another masterclass in quiet storytelling. The emotional depth unfolds naturally, and the episode explores the relationship between humans and mushi in a way that's both haunting and beautiful. Mushishi never needs spectacle to leave a lasting impact.
The incredibly quiet atmosphere and extremely slow pacing make this episode feel a bit monotonous.
