We finally get the family lore and character depth needed to flesh out the Meisei baseball legacy, and the brotherly dynamic is hitting right. Even if the school practice felt a bit mid and the pacing dragged, the glimpse into the new rivals is fire. It’s a total background info dump, but lowkey necessary for the plot before the actual summer tournament hype starts.
Using a visual aesthetic as an opening scene at the start is good for setting the mood. It is to create this thought of anticipation. Then it turns into an awkward scene. Everyone is surprised by the test. It's a visually stunning episode, especially the details of the background.
A fun episode that mixes baseball pressure with goofy rivalry energy. The challenge involving Otomi adds lighthearted chaos, but the approaching finals still keep the tension hanging over the entire episode.
