This episode is characterised by the intense relationship between Genji and Fujitsubo and a sense of tension in the plot. Their affair will have repercussions in the near future and create serious conflicts, particularly for Fujitsubo.
The tension in this episode is incredibly insane; Genji does the ultimate taboo by getting inappropriately involved with his stepmother, Lady Fujitsubo. This leaves Lady Fujitsubo crushed under a mountain of guilt. I can confidently believe that this is one of the most jaw-dropping episodes of the series so far.
Episode 5 feels incredibly heavy, depressing, and lacks meaningful plot progression. The concept of Karma brought up is actually interesting, but the execution feels too repetitive. Viewers are once again presented with scenes filled with anxiety, blank stares, and character regrets that have already been explored repeatedly in previous episodes
