In episode 3 we get to see Genji get overwhelmed by Lady Rokujo’s beauty and depth of her love. The show does an excellent job at highlighting how courting can be a struggle and not as straightforward as one may expect it to be. This episode really forces us to pity the women entangled in Genji’s chaotic romantic web
Among his lovers, Hikaru meets a woman who ultimately captivates him, but rumours about his love life will have unforeseen consequences for his future.
The Evening Glory actually has great potential, but this third episode feels shaky in determining its genre direction. The new romantic relationship built in this episode feels too instant and lacks a strong emotional foundation, making it difficult for the audience to care about the characters' fates. The dialogue used is increasingly cryptic and metaphorical, which instead of sounding poetic, actually blurs the plot."
