momokitchi is a total monster for how he treats his baseball players and seeing the dsa finally go after his criminal empire was a great hook for this episode

the way the dsa members bicker while planning a high stakes kidnapping is hilarious and it gives the whole show a weirdly fun energy despite all the brutal murders

I found the graphic scenes in the middle really broke the flow of the mission, and I wish they focused more on the D.S.A. team dynamic instead

momomi shooting her own bodyguards just for standing there made her look way more terrifying than her dad and i hope mikura actually gives her a real fight later

mikura kicking through that wall was so over the top and it totally fits the style yasuomi umetsu is known for even if the story is a bit thin compared to kite

momomi staring down the camera at the end was chilling and she is definitely going to be a problem for mikura in the next part

that elevator sequence had some of the most brutal visuals in the whole episode and it really set the tone for how dangerous momokitchi actually is

harada and kurokawa are such a weird duo to watch and their banter during the kidnapping prep was the only thing keeping the mood light

those bodyguards got absolutely shredded and seeing mikura move through that building felt like watching a dance because of how the animation flows

the way this looks reminds me so much of the anime part in kill bill and it makes every gunshot feel so heavy and mean, especially with the way the blood sprays during that first shootout and it is definitely a weird mix of dark comedy and gritty crime drama that only the nineties could really pull off without it feeling forced

i was not expecting that baseball boss to be so casual about killing his own players and now the dsa has their work cut out for them

seeing that umetsu art style always makes my day because nothing else looks quite like it and the gritty 90s vibe fits this story perfectly

the action is incredible, but those explicit scenes felt like they came out of nowhere and really killed the momentum of the heist for a bit

mikura gunplay is so smooth and she looks cool as hell taking out those bodyguards without breaking a sweat

momomi is a total freak and it feels like she is going to be way more unhinged than her dad once she actually gets her hands on the dsa crew

Balancing those goofy moments between the team and the brutal kills by Momokitchi makes the tone feel really unique and unpredictable

I went into this expecting something as dark as Kite, but the comedy bits with Harada and Kurokawa actually caught me off guard. The animation during the elevator fight was stunning and it has that gritty early 2000s look that I miss so much. Mikura is such a badass lead and watching her dodge bullets while wearing that yellow outfit was great.

Momomi is such a creepy kid because she looks like a doll but acts like a total psychopath and it makes her way scarier than her dad

The DSA team is such a fun group of losers and I really liked how Mikura has that cool edge you expect from an Umetsu project

Mikura getting into that shootout at the bowling alley looked so smooth and the way she handles her gun makes the action scenes feel way better than most stuff from that era

EPISODE CONTEXT

As the first of only two episodes in this OVA, this installment carries the full weight of world-building and character establishment. It introduces the DSA crew and the central contract that puts them on a collision course with the dangerous Momoi syndicate, laying all the groundwork for the explosive resolution ahead. Everything here is setup — Volume 2 is where the consequences land.
