Synopsis
Hiro Momose enters high school with one goal: no delinquents, no drama, no repeating the misery of junior high. Then she joins the Helpers Club and meets Dan Ichikura, a quiet, bespectacled boy who looks like the safest, most boring person alive. He is not. Turns out Ichikura spent junior high as a genuinely feared delinquent, and even now his instinct to square up with anyone causing trouble is basically hardwired. He insists he has changed. He keeps proving that is complicated. Momose ends up holding onto his secret, and the two of them are stuck together through club duties whether she likes it or not. What makes this work is the specific texture of their dynamic. Momose's nervousness around delinquents is not just a quirk; it comes from actually being hurt by people like that before. And Ichikura is not performing redemption for her benefit; he is genuinely trying to figure out who he is now. The glasses-and-honors-student exterior is real effort, not a costume. The tone sits somewhere between warm school-life comedy and low-key romantic drama, the kind where tension builds through shared glances and small moments rather than big confessions. If you liked the prickly-boy-meets-anxious-girl dynamic in My Little Monster, or the gentle emotional unpacking in Honey Lemon Soda, this is operating in that same space. It has that Horimiya quality of finding real feeling inside an apparently light premise.
